Tamara Stewart joins GLAAD as Director of Strategic Partnerships & Executive Producer, GLAAD Media Awards
New York, NY – GLAAD, the nation's lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) media advocacy organization, today announced Tamara Stewart as Director of Strategic Partnerships & Executive Producer, GLAAD Media Awards.
A longtime events and marketing executive, Stewart will be responsible for the development, execution, project management and growth of event and sponsor-driven fundraising campaigns, including the influential GLAAD Media Awards, and will collaborate with the organization’s Programs department on the event and sponsor-driven aspects of broader GLAAD branded campaigns. Already part of the GLAAD family, Stewart consulted on the 25th Annual GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles and New York, helping to make them two of the most successful events in the organization’s history.
"The GLAAD Media Awards not only fund GLAAD's advocacy work year-round, but have become one of the largest platforms for celebrities and notables to speak out in support of LGBT issues," said GLAAD President & CEO Sarah Kate Ellis. "Stewart’s leadership will not only grow the event, but result in unforgettable moments that move the needle on LGBT equality."
A publishing industry veteran, Stewart was Executive Director, Event Marketing for the Time Inc. Lifestyle Group from 2010-2013, where she strategized and executed on-brand, results-driven events for the media company’s nine brands, including Real Simple, Southern Living and Cooking Light, and previously was Event Marketing Director for Real Simple. During her decade-plus tenure at Time Inc., Stewart also held positions at InStyle, Teen People and People magazines. Prior to joining Time Inc., Stewart was a product manager at Savvy Records and at EMI Records, Inc. Stewart is a graduate of the University of Maryland and currently lives in Mount Kisco, NY with her children, Kendall and Jordan.
“I’m thrilled to be joining such an important, groundbreaking organization,” said Stewart. “I’m passionate about GLAAD’s mission to amplify the voice of LGBT families everywhere, and I’m looking forward to continuing to work with this amazing team to push for greater equality and acceptance.”
Stewart will be based in New York City.
