    We are the world’s largest Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) media advocacy organization. Our work increases media accountability and community engagement that ensures authentic LGBTQ stories are seen, heard, and actualized. Our findings have had a direct impact on inspiring positive LGBTQ cultural representation by nurturing understanding and holding social media platforms accountable for misinformation.

    Accelerating Acceptance

    Since 2015, GLAAD’s annual Accelerating Acceptance study has measured Americans’ attitudes and comfortability towards LGBTQ Americans, highlighting the progress we’ve made and the challenges that still need to be addressed in pursuit of full acceptance for the LGBTQ community. Read more.

    Advertising Visibility Index

    The inaugural GLAAD Advertising Visibility Index measures LGBTQ visibility in advertising and consumer perceptions of inclusion in partnership with Kantar, the world’s leading data, insights and consulting company. Released at Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in 2023, the Index is the first of an annual report on the state of LGBTQ representation in advertising and marketing. Learn more.

    GLAAD Gaming Report: The State of LGTBQ Inclusion in Video Games

    The 2024 GLAAD Gaming Report maps the quantity, quality and diversity of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) characters in video games during the 2023 calendar year.     Social Media Safety Index (SMSI)

    GLAAD’s Social Media Safety Index (SMSI) provides recommendations for the industry at large and reports on LGBTQ user safety across the five major social media platforms: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, and TikTok. Learn more.

    State of HIV Stigma Report

    Advocating for people living with HIV and fighting to end HIV stigma has remained at the core of GLAAD’s mission since our founding in 1985. By continuing to track attitudes about HIV, urging accurate representation and visibility in the media, and elevating accurate and inclusive information, we can end the HIV epidemic.     Where We Are on TV Report

    GLAAD has tracked lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) characters for 27 years, and this edition marks our eighteenth study since expanding that focus into what is now our Where We Are on TV (WWATV) report. Each year, GLAAD uses the findings of this report to inform our GLAAD Media Institute’s year-round work in Hollywood to tell nuanced and impactful LGBTQ stories that move the needle for our community and entertain audiences.
