Marks joined GLAAD’s Anthony Allen Ramos to discuss her work on and off camera.
On a recent episode of he Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, fans got to see Meredith, her husband Seth, and her son Brooks attending the 34th Annual GLAAD Media Awards in LA.
“The GLAAD Awards is a very special night,” Marks began. She spoke about how important representation in the media and entertainment worlds are since it “helps shape the way society views everything. And perception is everything. If we can get people to have a better level of understanding, there’s more acceptance.”
Marks then spoke about how proud she is of her son Brooks for how far he’s come in terms of self acceptance and professional success as a designer. “I’m beyond proud as as a mother, as an entrepreneur, as everything, just seeing the way he has grown and matured and is finding his space that he sits in.”
Then Brooks himself made a guest appearance!
He reveals that he feels really lucky to have Meredith as a mom. “I feel like for a lot of people in my position, at least my friends that I’ve talked to, it’s not as casual as it is with my mom.” He says that, “my mom doesn’t treat me any differently than my other two siblings.”
“The GLAAD Awards was honestly the best event that I’ve probably ever been to. No offense to any other events that I’ve been to,” Brooks comments. “It’s such an amazing, interesting group of people that go and you do the best job putting it all together.”
Looking ahead, Marks is looking forward to BravoCon as well as seeing how the rest of this season of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City unfolds.
She is no stranger to be being talked about behind her back. “I’ve listened to the lies spewed about me my whole life, forget Housewives, that’s reality. Let’s be honest, people love to gossip, they love to talk and make it up.” She goes on to say, “I don’t care, I know who I am. It’s fine, it’s not pleasant, but I just don’t care that much.”
Marks is also no stranger to having her iconic one-liners turned into memes. From “disengaging” to now “you can leave!” her commentary will live forever in the internet hall of fame.
On top of everything she has going on, Marks has also started her own caviar line. “Diamonds and caviar are not a bad pair,” she jokes.
