Boys, boys, boys wanna have a little fun in Frankie Grande’s newest single! With a music video starring Salina Estitties and Laith Ashley, Grande’s latest track Boys is about to be the song of the summer!
GLAAD’s Anthony Allen Ramos joined GLAAD board member Frankie Grande and model and activist Laith Ashley on set to talk about this steamy new video!
Grande shared that he has been wanting to work with Ashley for several years now, “It just means so much to me to have you in this. Our entire community is under attack and I feel like we need to represent all of the letters.”
Grande continued, “Dance music has always been the thing that saved me when I felt under attack, when my gayness was under attack, when I was a kid, when I was 18 years old, and so right now I want to provide the community with an outlet, a place to dance and live, and I couldn’t do that without Laith.”
“Thank you for representing the trans community as beautifully as you do,” Grande said to Ashley.
Ashley then spoke about his experience filming, “This video, it’s so gay, it’s so queer, and we get to be our full authentic queer selves and be unapologetic about it. I’m really excited to kind of to showcase that and have a good time while filming it.”
He talked about how fun it was to work with Grande and RuPaul’s Drag Race alum Salina Estitties, “He’s hilarious to me, he’s so funny. So, there are a couple of scenes where there’s acting with Estitties, and I was trying not to burst into laughter. I was trying to keep the serious, sexy face, and it was very hard.”
Grande spoke a bit about what compelled him to make this video, “The inspiration was to kind of drop the veil about some steamer etiquette and behavior that I’ve maybe come across in my life. This song is really just for the community to express themselves and to feel their sexual fantasies and to really go for it.” He added, “It’s our Express Yourself. It’s our generation’s version of just complete sexual liberation in the gay community which we need right now.”
Frankie revealed that his sister, Ariana Grande, is “obsessed with it already.” He said, “I texted her videos and updates and she’s like, ‘work.’ Everyone knew how naked and sexy this was going to be, and they’re very supportive.”
