In a time filled with so much hate directed towards the LGBTQ community, there is nothing more important than celebrating queer joy.
Chef and content creator Danny Freeman is doing just that with his brand new cook book “Danny Loves Pasta.”
To celebrate the release of his new book, GLAAD’s Anthony Allen Ramos joined Freeman to cook up a delicious dish.
Freeman spoke about how the pandemic in 2020 inspired him to quit his job as a lawyer and become a full time content creator. “It was a slow realization, I started this as a hobby on the side.” He went on to say that, “I really started this after my grandmother passed away. She used to make pasta, she was a great cook.”
Soon after this, he and his husband became dads and Freeman needed a creative outlet in his life… and @DannyLovesPasta was born!
Now with over a million TikTok followers, Freeman is bringing all of his favorite pasta recipes to our homes with “Danny Loves Pasta.” The book features over 75 different pasta shapes, sauces, patterns, and more for all cooks of all skill levels.
Freeman reveals his biggest fan has to be his 3-year-old daughter, who’s favorite pasta shape is Peppa Pig. Freeman also spoke about how his husband was the inspiration behind his mini-lasagna recipe.
“There is a recipe in the book that is basically what I made for him years ago, we’ve been together for 15 years.” Since they both liked very different types of food, Freeman could never decide what to put in a lasagna because they’re so big. “So, I started making what I call mini-lasagna… you can each put whatever ingredients you want!”
Freeman then taught Ramos some tips and tricks for cooking homemade pasta.
“Food is really a way you connect with people, you can connect with your past,” Freeman shared while they cooked.
