Last Sunday, Univision’s dance reality show Mira Quien Baila, La Revancha, featured a major moment of queer inclusion involving Lambda Garcia, an openly gay actor and participant on the show, who danced with choreographer Jonathan Platero.
In Garcia’s second number of the semi-final episode, the two artists told a love story set to the song “The Final Countdown,” showing off a combination of paso doble and tango.
It’s the first time a dance reality show on Univision includes two men dancing together, leaving an impact on the show’s its eleventh season and showcasing a gay love story on a program that reaches millions of Spanish-speaking viewers.
Garcia, who came out in 2019, was among four competitors still vying to win Univision’s dancing competition as of the semi-final, and has appeared on telenovelas like Sangre de mi tierra, Señora Acero and La reina soy yo.
The grand finale of Mira Quién Baila, La Revancha airs next Sunday, November 19th, at 7pm/6c on Univision.
