As WorldPride descends on Washington, D.C. for its final week, one event is already being dubbed the must-attend dance floor of the season.
TRÈS CHIC, the high-energy, high-style Pride Tea Dance from rising event production group TRIOLOCO, will bring a powerful mix of music, protest, and community to Hook Hall on Sunday, June 8 — headlined by Grammy-nominated dance duo SIDEPIECE, in their first-ever Pride performance anywhere in the world.
TRIOLOCO, the powerhouse trio behind the event— Michael Navarro, Wade Smith, and Matthew Knouse—built their brand on the belief that house music has the power to unify. “TRIOLOCO was built on the belief that house music makes the world go round,” said Michael Navarro, TRIOLOCO co-founder, DJ, and the event’s creative director in an interview with GLAAD.
“With TRÈS CHIC, we’re redefining the traditional party experience by creating a space where style meets sound, passion meets party, and the crowd dances like there’s no tomorrow.”
Known for global hits like “On My Mind” and collaborations with Diplo, Bad Bunny, and A$AP Ferg, TRÈS CHIC will mark their first-ever Pride appearance at WorldPride DC. “Having SIDEPIECE, who has never performed at a Pride or an LGBTQ+ event in the world, as our headliners is a big deal for us,” Navarro said. “They’re just as pumped to be making their worldwide Pride debut at something as meaningful as WorldPride with us.”
The lineup also includes rising stars Beau Cruz and Navarro himself, each known for spinning genre-defining sets that invite everyone—queer, allied, and beyond—onto the dance floor. But the TRÈS CHIC experience goes beyond beats. “We’re not just curating music, we’re curating moments,” Navarro said.
“The response to SIDEPIECE has been wild, which proves just how deeply house music resonates within our community. We’re honored to be the first to bring SIDEPIECE to a WorldPride stage.”
TRÈS CHIC is, as Navarro put it, “our love letter to the LGBTQ+ community and to house music lovers of all identities.” The team approached planning the event with both celebration and strategy, knowing the significance of launching a Pride event in this political moment. “Because there is so much turmoil in the world right now, especially for the LGBTQ+ community, events like TRÈS CHIC are not just important — they’re necessary,” he added.
“For me, celebration is the greatest form of protest and protest doesn’t always have to look like shouting in the streets,” Navarro continued.
“Sometimes it looks like taking up space unapologetically. Sometimes it looks like dancing freely with your entire crew, surrounded by the best vibes, energy, and music — loving proudly on one another and building spaces where our community feels powerful and proud.”
“TRÈS CHIC is our protest — a celebration that honors where we’ve come from while boldly stepping into where we’re going,” he said. “We don’t take this moment lightly. We know we’re standing on the shoulders of giants. Every light cue, every bass drop, every hug on the dance floor is intentional. It’s about visibility. It’s about community. Yes, we’re throwing a party — but it’s a party with purpose.”
Navarro also credited the magic of TRIOLOCO’s events to authenticity and intention. “When we started TRIOLOCO, we didn’t set out to create a traditional company. We set out to build a movement — something fresh, authentic and rooted in who we are. Something chic and fun that brings everyone together,” he says. “Wade, Matt, and I understand our audience because we are our audience. We set out to create the events and environments that we ourselves want to be in and be a part of.”
“Our focus isn’t just to throw events but to create movements,” he added. “That means every detail matters.”
While TRÈS CHIC is a celebration of LGBTQ identity, it’s also a space that welcomes true allies. “I’m actually the only performer on the lineup who identifies as LGBTQ+,” Navarro reveals. “Both members of SIDEPIECE and Beau Cruz, our other amazing DJ, are straight allies. Inviting allies onto our stage is about building bridges — sharing our culture, our music, and our love with people who respect and celebrate it.”
“Some of my favorite nights out are the ones where I’m out with my queer friends and my straight friends, all together at the same time,” he says. “No labels, no judgments — just pure energy and connection. Those moments stay with me because they show how powerful it is when everyone feels included and respected.”
“At TRÈS CHIC, everyone who shows up with respect and love is welcome. That’s the true spirit of Pride — and the spirit of house music.”
With WorldPride landing in the U.S. capital in a high-stakes election year, Navarro hopes visitors come ready to engage, connect, and celebrate with purpose. “We want everyone to come to D.C. with their hearts and arms wide open — ready to dance, sweat and make history together,” he says. “The fact that WorldPride is happening in our nation’s capital this year — of all years — isn’t a coincidence. Pride matters now more than ever, so let’s make it really count and do ourselves proud.”
And when it comes to lawmakers actively working against LGBTQ freedoms, Navarro doesn’t hold back. “You cannot silence a community built on resilience, love and visibility. Pride is a reminder that we all deserve to live freely, safely and authentically,” Navarro said.
“We will continue to show up, celebrate and fight for the respect and equality our community deserves — not just during WorldPride, but every single day.”
