Every week, The GLAAD Wrap brings you LGBTQ-related entertainment news highlights, fresh stuff to watch out for, and fun diversions to help you kick off the weekend.
1.) Roadside Attractions and Lionsgate released a new trailer for Twinless, an upcoming dark comedy about two men who meet at a twin bereavement support group. However, as they grow closer and fill the missing holes in each other’s lives, dark and dangerous secrets come to light. One of the twins is played by out actor James Sweeney (Straight Up). Don’t miss Twinless when it arrives in theaters on September 5!
2.) Last week, the first trailer for The History of Sound, the upcoming gay love story from Oliver Hermanus, was released! The film follows Lionel and David, two young men who bond over a love of folk music at the Boston Conservatory. Years later they reconnect and journey through rural Maine together, leading to a love affair and much more. The History of Sound arrives in theaters on September 12!
3.) The first trailer for A24’s upcoming romantic comedy Eternity dropped this week, and it promises laughs, drama, and more. The film is set in the afterlife, where Joan, recently dead, is forced to choose between spending eternity with the man she spent the majority of her life with, or her first love, who died young. The film features out actor John Early (Stress Positions) in a supporting role. Eternity is set to hit theaters in November after premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
4.) In casting news this week, out actor Corey Fogelmanis (I Wish You All the Best), is the latest cast member announced in David Fincher’s upcoming film Adventures of Cliff Booth. Both character details and the film’s plot are being kept under wraps at the moment, but it is a Fincher-directed sequel to Quentin Tarantino’s 2019 film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

5.) In other casting news, A Place in Hell, an upcoming thriller from Neon, added out actor Esther McGregor (Babygirl) to the cast. While most of the plot details are being kept under wraps, it will follow two women at a well-known criminal law firm. Additionally, gay actor Jim Parsons (The Boys in the Band) has been added to the cast of The Leader, an upcoming true-crime thriller based on the Heaven’s Gate mass suicide.

6.) Trans actress and director Tommy Dorfman’s upcoming film adaptation of the graphic novel Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up With Me has announced its leads! Out actors Ava Phillippe and Sam Morelos will lead the flick that follows Laura Dean, the most popular girl in school, and her relationship with Freddie Riley. The only issue is that Laura breaks up with her constantly, and Freddie tries to break the cycle and discover self-love. Stay tuned for more on Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up With Me!

7.) Out actor Andrew Rannells (The Prom) and frequent collaborator Josh Gad (Beauty and the Beast) will co-star in an upcoming Hulu comedy series! The series, titled Stay Tuned, is loosely based on the 1992 film of the same name and sees the pair trapped inside of their television, forced to travel through the television landscape in order to get out. 8.) Out singer-songwriter and actress Renee Rapp’s new album Bite Me is out today! Her second studio album, the project is about “reclaiming your personal narrative” and urges listeners to be “authentically, unapologetically themselves.” Another queer icon of the moment is releasing a new song today, and that would be none other than Chappell Roan! Roan finally released “The Subway” this week after debuting the song at Governor’s Ball over a year ago. Stream Renee Rapp and Chappell Roan’s new music now!
9.) In other music news, queer artists MARIS and Molly Grace released a new version of Meg Smith’s single “Girls Just Wanna Be Famous(er).” Queer-fronted band Glitterfox released their video “Gamma Ray“ this week. Nonbinary artist Burry released their EP today, titled I’m Tired.
