1.) Comedy film Mother of the Bride, featuring out actor Wilson Cruz, is streaming on Netflix! Lana (Brooke Shields) gets a second chance at first love, as she comes face to face with the man who broke her heart in college—and who also happens to be the father of her daughter’s fiancé. See the trailer below, and head to Netflix to watch the film now!
2.) Lady Gaga is gifting us her GAGA CHROMATICA BALL concert special, debuting on HBO Saturday, May 25! Filmed from her 2022 Chromatica Ball tour, the concert special has Lady Gaga’s fingerprints all over it, with her credited as producer, director, and creator. 3.) The trailer for upcoming Cyndi Lauper documentary, Let the Canary Sing, is here! The film traces Lauper’s rise to stardom and her legacy through her music and political advocacy, including fighting for LGBTQ rights. Lauper’s lesbian sister Ellen is featured prominently in the documentary, as well as Lauper’s allyship with the LGBTQ community throughout the years—such as her song “True Colors,” which was written after a friend passed during the AIDS epidemic, and her establishment of the True Colors Fund, a non-profit dedicated to helping eradicate LGBTQ youth homelessness. 4.) Gravitas Ventures has acquired U.S. and Canadian distribution rights for Conversion, a survivor-centered documentary exploring conversion therapy’s incredibly traumatic and harmful effects. The film weaves together survivor stories, opinions of doctors and experts, and an interview with the founder of a large U.S. conversion therapy network. Conversion will be available on VOD platforms on July 2!

5.) Amazon MGM Studios has greenlit a Red, White & Royal Blue sequel, with stars Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez returning! The gay political royal rom-com found a large audience last summer, as fans saw the dramatic love story blossom between Alex, son of the U.S. President, and British royalty Prince Henry. The sequel isn’t the only gay romance in motion; Ron Perlman and Rupert Everett have joined gay romantic dramedy Out Late! The upcoming film will see an unlikely romance unfold between Angelo, a closeted widower, and Edmond, an out retired dancer. Angelo must battle loved ones’ judgements and his own fears if he is going to embrace his deeply buried truth. Keep your eyes peeled for more information on these upcoming projects!

6.) Out director Gregg Araki’s new thriller I Want Your Sex is in the works, with Olivia Wilde set to star! The film will question how far is “too far,” as it delves into the world of sex, obsession, power, betrayal and murder. In more film news, bisexual actress Maddie Hasson is set to star in Violence, alongside Rohan Campbell. The indie thriller will drop us into an alternate 1980s, where anti-hero Henry Violence is trapped in the middle of a growing drug war. Production begins next month; stay tuned for more details!

7.) The Bear season three officially has a release date! Queer Emmy Award-winner Ayo Edebiri and the rest of the chefs will be returning to the kitchen June 27, with all ten episodes premiering at the same time. The intense comedy-drama is a look at the emotions and labor behind struggling to stay afloat in the restaurant business, while simultaneously navigating past trauma and complex relationships. 8.) You can finally mark your calendars for Snowpiercer’s fourth and final season, arriving Sunday, July 21 at 9 pm ET/PT on AMC and AMC+! The post-apocalyptic thriller series landed a new home with AMC after TNT canceled it, much to fans’ dismay. Taking place in a near-future world that has become a completely frozen climate, the series follows an ensemble cast of survivors, including lesbian character Bess Till. Leading up to season four’s release, seasons one and two of Snowpiercer will stream on AMC+ starting June 1, with season three to follow on June 8. 9.) Lesbian Emmy-winner Lena Waithe’s The Chi is officially returning for season seven! This announcement comes just in time for the premiere of season two’s second half. Featuring several queer characters, the drama centers around an unexpectedly linked group of people on Chicago’s south side, following their highs and lows, and their connections and redemptions. Season seven will begin production this month; in the meantime, you can catch up on seasons one through six on Paramount+.

10.) School will be back in session (one more time) for Heartbreak High! Netflix has officially renewed the series for its third and final season. The Australian comedy drama reboot follows a group of high school students, including queer and non-binary student Darren Rivers (non-binary actor James Majoos), lesbian and autistic student Quinni Gallagher-Jones (neurodivergent advocate and Tik Tok star Chloe Hayden), asexual student Douglas “Ca$h” Piggott (actor Will McDonald), and more! 11.) Out artist Towa Bird released her new single “Sorry Sorry” for all the “friends-to-lovers lesbian trope enthusiasts,” ahead of her June 28 debut album release! But if you need a queer album to listen to now, queer pop artist Xana dropped The Sex Was Good Until It Wasn’t, and trans-led band The FMs released their sophomore double album PINK + BLACK. Several other out artists gave us new singles this week, including Jeffrey Eli’s “Wife Pleaser,” Leanna Firestone’s “Black Box Warning,” Miki Ratsula’s “elephant,” and Minke’s “Happier Than Me,” along with the accompanying video. In more music news, non-binary Grammy-nominee Kossisko released “Finally Free” from their album SLAYERZ BALL, and trans multi-hyphenate Our Lady J is making a return to music! Following Our Lady J’s success in the television industry, she has released new track “Future of Us,” her first since 2013. Plus, out singer-songwriter Kehlani dropped a music video for new song “After Hours”—watch it below!
