1.) Janis Ian: Breaking Silence hit theaters today! The documentary follows singer-songwriter Janis Ian as she navigates the music industry, overcoming misogyny and homophobia to fight for women in America through her music. Ian came out as a lesbian in 1993, coinciding with the release of her album Breaking Silence. At times controversial, Ian’s music mirrored the breakthrough of the American woman in the 60s and 70s, fighting for progress and breaking free from societal norms. 2.) Marvel revealed a number of the cast members of Avengers: Doomsday in dramatic fashion this week, and it includes some blasts from the past. Gay actors Ian McKellan and Alan Cumming will reprise their roles as Magneto and Nightcrawler respectively, as this movie sees the X-Men cinematic universe and the Marvel cinematic universe cross paths. 3.) Queer director Rachel Morrison has been tapped to direct Love of Your Life for Amazon MGM Studios, who bought the spec script late last year. The film will follow a young woman who loses her husband and embarks on a journey in order to find herself and a reason to carry on. Morrison previously directed The Fire Inside for Amazon MGM Studios, which followed the life of boxer Claressa Shields. Stay tuned for more info on Love of Your Life!

4.) The trailer for season two of Disney+ hit Star Wars show Andor is here, and it looks drama-filled and action packed! Season two will follow Cassian Andor and allies as war quickly approaches and he becomes a key figure in the rebellion. The show features a lesbian pair, Vel Sartha and Cinta Kal, who are spotted together briefly in the trailer. Don’t miss season two of Andor, out April 22 on Disney+!
5.) CNN released a trailer and set a premiere date of April 27 for My Happy Place, an upcoming travel show that follows a different celebrity each episode as they show viewers around a place that has become a sanctuary for them. The series opens with gay actor Alan Cumming in the Scottish Highlands, and will also feature gay actor Billy Porter in Mykonos, Greece. Tune into My Happy Place on April 27 on CNN!
6.) The first trailer of Étoile, an upcoming Prime Video series from Amy Sherman-Palladino, dropped this week! The show follows two ballet directors as they try to revitalize their companies and performances for a modern audience while keeping the love for the art form alive. The show features queer actors Gideon Glick and Simon Callow. Don’t miss Étoile when it debuts on April 24 on Prime Video!
7.) BBC’s comedy Smoggie Queens was renewed for second season this week! The show follows a group of people in the LGBTQ community as they try to find love and live their lives in Middleborough, a small neglected town in the corner of the UK that they are fiercely proud of. The show was created by and stars gay comedian Phil Dunning as drag queen Dickie, and also features gay actor Elijah Young. Stay tuned for more updates on season two of Smoggie Queens!

8.) Queer actress Rowan Blanchard has joined the cast of The Testaments, a sequel to the popular novel-turned-show The Handmaid’s Tale, as a series regular. The Testaments takes place more than 15 years after the events of The Handmaid’s Tale, following a new group of women in Gilead. Blanchard will play Shunammite, a spoiled teen whose family and status provides her power and respect among her peers in Gilead. Keep an eye out for more updates on The Testaments!

9.) Project Runway is coming back for season 21 in the latest search for the next big fashion designer. Gay and aromantic fashion stylist Law Roach will join the judges panel this season, following his success styling stars such as Zendaya and Megan Thee Stallion, and his tenure as a judge on the ballroom competition show Legendary. Gay fashion designer Cristian Siriano, who won Project Runway season four, will return as a mentor for the new cast this season. 10.) Miley Cyrus announced her new visual album Something Beautiful this week, set for a release date of May 30! Kesha also announced a new album Period out July 4, and released “Yippee-Ki-Yay” this week. Maren Morris debuted “Carry Me Through” in advance of her album Dreamsicle, out May 9; check out the music video below! Queer songwriter and influencer Boy Jr. shared their new single “Zitty Stardust” this week, as did queer country-pop artist Andrew Mitch, whose single is titled “unapologetic.” Finally, nonbinary musician Burry dropped their highly-anticipated new single “TV GLOW.”
11.) Gay actor, style icon, and The Traitors host Alan Cumming was announced as the host of the BAFTA TV Awards this week! The BAFTA TV Award nominations were also released this week, with queer-inclusive show Baby Reindeer leading the pack with eight nominations, including looks for “Limited Drama,” “Leading Actor” for bisexual actor and show creator Richard Gadd, and two “Supporting Actress” nods for transgender actress Nava Mau, and lesbian actress Jessica Gunning. Nava Mau will make history as the first transgender nominee at the BAFTA TV Awards. Some other queer nominees include Graham Norton and Joe Lycett, both for “Entertainment Performance,” gay comedian Phil Dunning for “Male Performance in a Comedy,” and queer and non-binary actor Lola Petticrew and queer actress Sharon D.
