Every week, The GLAAD Wrap brings you LGBTQ-related entertainment news highlights, fresh stuff to watch out for, and fun diversions to help you kick off the weekend.
1.) Sam Felder’s timely documentary Heightened Scrutiny is coming to theaters, New York on July 18 at the DCTV Firehouse and Los Angeles on July 26 at the Laemmle Noho, with additional cities to follow. The doc centers on Chase Stangio—a fearless ACLU attorney and the first out trans person to argue before the Supreme Court—as he fights a high-stakes legal battle for transgender adolescents’ access to life-saving, gender-affirming healthcare. While Chase battles in the courtroom, he must also fight against a biased mainstream media landscape, exposing how the narratives in the press influence public perception and, ultimately, endangers lives. At its core, Heightened Scrutiny is an urgent call to action against bigotry and injustice; watch a clip below and find the film at a theater near you.
2.) The trailer for trans actress Tommy Dorfman’s directorial debut I Wish You All the Best has arrived! Written and directed by Dorfman, the film is based on Mason Deaver’s best-selling novel and follows a teen (out actor Corey Fogelmanis) who moves in with their older sister after coming out as nonbinary. At a new school, they find support from an eccentric art teacher (Lena Dumham), forms an unexpected bond with another student (gay actor Miles Gutierrez-Riley), and learns to navigate the awkward hurdles of young adulthood. 3.) Paramount Pictures unveiled the first trailer for The Running Man, featuring out stars Colman Domingo, Lee Pace, Katy O’Brian, and Sean Hayes. Based on Stephen King’s novel of the same name, the dystopian action-comedy centers on The Running Man, a deadly TV show where contestants must survive 30 days while being hunted by professional assassins for a chance to win an ever-growing cash prize. Hosted by Bobby Thompson (Domingo), desperate working-class father Ben Richards (Glen Powell) decides to enter the game, joining Laughlin (O’Brian), another contestant, and Evan (Pace), a skilled hunter. Soon, Ben’s defiance, instincts, and grit turn him into an unexpected fan favorite—and a threat to the entire system. Watch the trailer below and catch The Running Man in theaters November 7!
4.) Queer three-time Oscar nominee Cynthia Erivo’s production company Edith’s Daughter is teaming up with Platinum Dunes to produce a feature adaptation of Adrian Tchaikovsky’s Saturn Point for Universal Pictures. In the sci-fi action thriller, Dr. Jasmine Marks leads a rescue mission into “The Zone,” a section of the rainforest with a climate inhospitable to intelligent life. As she pushes further into the wilderness, Marks discovers that the area is far deadlier than initially believed and that not all forms of intelligent life are necessarily human. 5.) NEON boarded the thriller A Place in Hell, starring out actor Andrew Scott alongside Michelle Williams and Daisy Edgar Jones. The pic follows two women at a high-profile criminal law firm. Stay tuned for character details!

6.) The beloved Proud family is returning to the small screen August 6! Disney+ debuted the official trailer for the third season of the GLAAD Media Award-nominated reboot The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder, which has been renewed for a fourth season. In season three, Penny Proud and her family and friends—including gender non-conforming teen Michael (gay TV personality EJ Johnson)—embark on international adventures and navigate typical middle school chaos, all while exploring deeper social issues. 7.) Heidi Klum is back in the official trailer of Freeform’s Project Runway! The revamped series reunites the iconic host with the original series’ winner Christian Siriano as a mentor. Fashion trailblazer Law Roach is on the judges panel alongside other LGBTQ guest judges Zac Posen, Jenna Lyons, Christian Cowan, and Harris Reed. With 12 hopefuls competing for the title of the next big fashion designer—including RuPaul’s Drag Race star Ethan Mundt (Utica Queen), Filipino trans designer Veejay Floresca, and more—the season features new and exciting challenges, pushing the designers to innovate and showcase their creativity. 8.) Hulu dropped the trailer for Miley Cyrus: Something Beautiful, the visual companion to Cyrus’ latest album. The one-of-a-kind pop opera features 13 original new songs from the visual album Something Beautiful. Watch the trailer below and stream the companion piece July 17 on Hulu and Disney+!
9.) Netflix announced a new game show hosted by Neil Patrick Harris. What’s In the Box is a massive guessing game where every decision could lead to life changing rewards. Pairs of contestants face off in fast-paced, addictive trivia rounds, racing to correctly guess what is inside each giant box. As the game progresses, shifting alliances and unexpected twists mean only those with sharp instincts will hold onto their winnings and claim victory. Check back for release information!

10.) Out Eurovision star Jeangu Macrooy released the Pride anthem “Independent Girls & Nasty Evil Gays” alongside an official music video! In more music news, trans multihyphenate Ethel Cain debuted the new song “Fuck Me Eyes” off her forthcoming sophomore album Willoughby Tucker, I’ll Always Love You; check out the visualizer. Cerrone & Christine and the Queens also dropped their collaborative EP Catching Feelings.
