1.) Teen comedy Prom Dates, starring out actors Julia Lester, Zión Moreno, and Terry Hu, is streaming now! The flick follows best friends who made a pact in middle school to have the perfect senior prom. But with only 24 hours left before the big event, everything falls apart when they break up with each of their dates. Lester plays Hannah, an anxious closeted lesbian who navigates her new queerness while her best friendship unravels; Moreno plays Heather, a college party girl who grabs life by the horns; and Hu plays Angie, a butch lesbian with rockstar energy. 2.) The trailer for God Isn’t Ready for Me Yet, an intimate documentary exploring the life and legacy of influential AIDS activist Reverend Steve Pieters, has arrived. Pieters was one of the longest-surviving people with the disease, diagnosed in the early 80s before it even had a name. He was a leader in the fight for gay rights and HIV/AIDS activism, and this film seeks to recognize the massive importance and impact of his life and work. The documentary has a release goal of early 2025, and you can contribute to the creation of God Isn’t Ready for Me Yet through its Kickstarter campaign.
3.) M-Appeal, a Berlin-based sales agency, has acquired the rights to queer rom-com Perfect Endings. The feature follows filmmaker João’s journey of love and self-discovery after the end of a long-term relationship throws him back into the dating scene. Simultaneously, he is at a crossroads in his career, and João finds himself directing amateur erotic films while trying to break into the film industry. You can expect Perfect Endings to debut later this year. In more film news, gay filmmaker Andrew Haigh is set to write and direct a Leonardo da Vinci film based on Walter Isaacson‘s 2017 biography. 4.) Nonbinary actor Bella Ramsey has been cast in upcoming feature Sunny Dancer! The coming-of-age comedy will follow teenage cancer survivor Ivy’s (Ramsey) experience at Children Run Free Camp, a summer retreat for young cancer patients. While she is initially less than thrilled to attend, new people, experiences, and feelings await her in this uplifting film.

5.) Pansexual actress Bella Thorne is set to star in the thriller Find Your Friends! The feature follows Amber and a group of her best friends on their trip to Joshua Tree—but their weekend of fun quickly turns hostile when they find the locals are unhappy with their presence there. As the hostility and negative interactions escalate, Amber’s friends learn of her past trauma, and the girls’ frustration with toxic masculinity transforms their little getaway trip into one of revenge. Production has just wrapped on the film, so stay tuned for more information!

6.) Queer icon Kristen Stewart will be back on the big screen in Flesh of the Gods! The vampire thriller promises a glittering ’80s L.A., with Stewart and co-star Oscar Isaac set to play married couple Alex and Raoul. Each night, the pair descend from their luxury condo into an electric nighttime realm, where they soon meet the mysterious Nameless and are seduced into a glamorous, surrealistic world of hedonism, thrills and violence. In more casting news, out singer and actress Janelle Monáe has been cast in Universal Pictures’ new coming-of-age musical! Details of the film and Monáe’s role are still under wraps, but we know it will take place in Virginia Beach in the summer of 1977, and it draws inspiration from the neighborhood where producer Pharrell Williams was raised. 7.) The official trailer for RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 9 is here, revealing a first look at exciting guest judges such as Keke Palmer, Anitta, Connie Britton, and Stephanie Hsu. Other guest judges expected to appear this season include Alec Mapa, Brothers Osborne (T.J. & John), Colton Haynes, Jeremy Scott, Kristine W, and Ruta Lee. All Stars 9 is premiering a new concept for the show: eight iconic queens will be competing to win money for their favorite charity. Catch the first two episodes debuting May 17 on Paramount+, and see the trailer below!
8.) New reality series House on Fire is set to premiere on streaming service WOW Presents Plus—from World of Wonder, the production company behind Drag Race! The series is a look at the NYC Ballroom scene and will follow the House of Miyake-Mugler, exploring competition pressures, mentorship, and house culture. An official release date has not yet been announced, but keep your eyes peeled for more information soon!

9.) Not Part of the Plan—a new docuseries executive produced by gay actor and activist Wilson Cruz—is currently being shopped. The series follows the lives and experiences of four queer Mormon teenagers, with season one filmed over the course of two years. In more TV news, a series adaptation of Emily The Criminal is in development! The 2022 crime thriller starred bisexual actress Aubrey Plaza, who will executive produce (although not star in) the upcoming Legendary Television series. Also, And Just Like That… has added Rosie O’Donnell to season three’s cast, portraying an unknown character named Mary. Production on the new season has just begun, so more details are yet to be revealed!

10.) Bisexual singer-songwriter Ceara Cavalieri dropped a pop rock track entitled “That’s My Bitch” this week! More new singles from out artists include Logan Lynn’s “I Feel Alone When I’m With You” (upcoming album SOFTCORE, out June 7); Rae Isla’s “Miles and Miles” (upcoming album New Frontiers, out July 19); and Delilah Montagu’s “Orange” (upcoming EP The Bird, out June 14). 11.) Out actors Ncuti Gatwa, Hugh Skinner, and Sharon D. Clarke are set to star in the revival of Oscar Wilde‘s play The Importance of Being Earnest at London’s National Theatre! The 1895 comedy sees Jack Worthing (Skinner) and his friend Algernon Moncrieff (Gatwa) leading double lives, appearing as respectful gentlemen while also taking on fictional identities to escape social obligations. Predictably, this arrangement is not without conflict, and they find themselves navigating interwoven lies and love. The play will run November 20 to January 25, 2025, and tickets will go on sale to the public May 23!

12.) Nicole Maines, transgender actress and activist, announced her upcoming book It Gets Better… Except When it Gets Worse this week! Via Instagram, she describes it in part as “a collection of the thoughts, feelings and fears that occupy my brain while I try to keep my grip on my own sanity as the world devolves around me.” The memoir is set to arrive October 15, and is available now for preorder! Also, lesbian comedian Ali Clayton announced her debut comedy album Country Queer, arriving May 31. It tells a story of growing up, embracing who you are, and living as your authentic self.
