1.) Fresh off his Oscar nomination this week, gay actor Colman Domingo has landed the role of Jackson family patriarch Joe Jackson in forthcoming Michael Jackson biopic Michael. Joe was known for his hard-driving management and often controversial parenting of the Jackson 5. Written by gay three-time Oscar nominee John Logan, the pic features real-life nephew Jaafar Jackson, who is playing his King of Pop uncle. Stay tuned for more information!

2.) Bisexual actress Aubrey Plaza has been cast as a mystery woman in Focus Features’ upcoming film Honey Don’t!. Though details of the dark comedy’s plot remain under wraps, the flick is said to be in the same vein as the lesbian road-trip flick Drive-Away Dolls, arriving in theaters February 23! In more Plaza news, Amazon MGM is in final negotiations to aquire My Old Ass, the biggest Sundance deal for a theatrical release. In the pic, bright-yet-irreverent Elliot comes face-to-face with her older self (Plaza) during a mushroom trip, spurring a funny and heartfelt journey of self-discovery and first love as Elliot prepares to leave her childhood home.

3.) Peacock has dropped the official trailer of Vigil season two, set to return with all six episodes February 15. Following multiple unexplained fatalities at the Scottish military facility, bisexual leads DCI Amy Silva (Surranne Jones) and DI Kirsten Longacre (Rose Leslie) are tasked with uncovering the cause. Entering hostile and closed ranks of the Air Force, the pair must face the deadly warfare of tomorrow as they fight for their own future. 4.) Netflix has debuted the first teaser for psychological thriller series Ripley, starring gay actor Andrew Scott. Based on Patricia Highsmith’s bestselling novels, the limited series revolves around Ripley (Scott), a grifter in 1960s New York who is hired by a wealthy man to travel to Italy in order to convince his wandering son, Dickie, to return home. Non-binary actor and singer Elliot Sumner plays a friend of Dickie’s who becomes suspicious of Tom. Check out the teaser below and watch Ripley April 4.
5.) Newly minted Emmy Award and Golden Globe winner Ayo Edebiri has been set to host Saturday Night Live on February 3! The Bear star will be joined by musical guest Jennifer Lopez.

6.) Queer pop singer Fletcher has dropped the official music video for new single “Lead Me On,” off her upcoming album In Search of the Antidote, out March 22. Pre-save the album and watch the music video below! In other music news, lesbian singer-songwriter Brandy Clark has confirmed her Spring headline tour; tickets will be available for pre-sale starting January 30! Clark is nomiated for six awards at next week’s 66th Annual Grammy Awards and will be performing during the Premiere Ceremony on February 4.
7.) Queer Brooklyn-based playwright and songwriter Dan Fishback has announced his upcoming EP III I: Laughing with Lizards, available for streaming February 16; watch the official music video for the title track below! Additionally, queer singer-songwriter Medium Build has released a new song “Crying Over U,” with an accompanying music video.
8.) Lesbian five-time Grammy winner Brittany Howard has dropped a new single “Prove It To You,” off her forthcoming album What Now, out February 9! Additionally, Sleater Kinney, composed of out artists Corrin Tucker and Carrie Brownstone, has debuted the new album Little Rope. Trans bedroom pop artist and producer Layla Eden, professionally known as awfultune, has also unveiled a new single “weird!,” alongside the announcement of her upcoming EP Unreleased Demos II, out this Spring. 9.) The 55th NAACP Image Awards nominations have been revealed, led by out stars Colman Domingo, Ayo Edebiri, Keke Palmer, and Victoria Monét with multiple nods! Oscar nominee Domingo scored noms for his lead role playing gay civil rights activist Bayard Rustin in Rustin, as well as playing Mister in Warner Bros’ re-imagining of The Color Purple. Emmy winner Edebiri received two nods in the TV categories for her roles in The Bear and inclusive sitcom Abbott Elementary. On the heels of its Oscar nomination, American Fiction is up for Outstanding Motion Picture, competing against other inclusive films Rustin, The Color Purple and Origin. Additional LGBTQ-inclusive nominated programs include Anatomy of a Fall, Little Richard: I Am Everything, Harlem, Survival of the Thickest, Black Cake, Bel-Air, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, Wanda Sykes: I’m an Entertainer, Ada Twist, Scientist, Craig of the Creek, Big Mouth, The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder, RuPaul’s Drag Race, The Laverne Cox Show, and more. LGBTQ artists Ariana Debose, RuPaul Charles, Janelle Monáe and Megan Thee Stallion have also scored noms! The awards, which honor the year’s best in Black excellence in the fields of motion pictures, television, music, books, and podcasts, will take place March 16 in a primetime ceremony on BET and CBS. 10.) SCAD TVfest in Atlanta is honoring gay actor Matt Bomer with the THR Trailblazer Award for his contributions to storytelling in both television and film, highlighting his efforts in boosting visibility for LGBTQ stories and characters. Out stars Joel Kim Booster and Josie Totah are also being honored for the Rising Star Award. The Savannah College of Art and Design’s signature event will take place from February 7 to 10. Passes are on sale starting Jan. 25 at scadtvfest.com and individual ticket sales will begin on Jan. 31!
