1.) Fanatical: The Catfishing of Tegan and Sara is now streaming on Hulu! As Tegan and Sara ascended to global fame as one of the most influential queer indie rock bands of their generation, their world turned upside down when Tegan’s personal files were hacked in 2011. This sprawling yet intimate story of how Tegan’s identity was weaponized in a complex catfish scheme examines the severe ripple effect of mistrust, anxiety, and self-doubt that resulted from Fegan’s (Fake Tegan) actions. 2.) Paramount Pictures’ highly anticipated Smile sequel, featuring out actors Lukas Gage and Miles Gutierrez-Riley, hits theaters today! In the film, global pop sensation Skye Riley (Naomi Scott) begins experiencing increasingly terrifying and inexplicable events as she prepares to embark on a new world tour. Overwhelmed by the escalating horrors and pressures of fame, Skye must confront her dark past before her life spirals out of control. 3.) A new teaser trailer for Argentine director Javier Van de Couter’s latest project Thesis on a Domestication has been released! The story is based on a novel written and adapted by the film’s lead, acclaimed trans multi-hyphenate Camila Sosa Villada. Thesis on a Domestication explores the stigmatization of HIV/AIDS, desire, eroticism, and the family ties of a trans actress. Set against the backdrop of her public persona and her attempt to create a domestic life, the protagonist seeks what has long been denied to trans women: both safety and happiness. This weekend, the film will premiere at the 60th Chicago International Film Festival, participating in the OutLook Competition through October 27!
4.) Sydney Sweeney has unveiled first-look images of her portrayal of trailblazing queer boxer Christy Martin in an upcoming biopic! The currently untitled project, which also stars Love Lies Bleeding breakout Katy O’Brian as Martin’s boxing-rival-turned-wife Lisa Holewyne, chronicles the true story of Martin’s rise to fame as she became America’s most well-known female boxer in the 1990s. But behind her well-honed public persona, the welterweight champion tackled personal demons, toxic relationships, and a brutal attempt on her life. Find the pictures below!

5.) Nonbinary actor Celeste O’Connor is set to star in sci-fi thriller UAP, which is due to start filming in Spain next month! The pic follows a group of childhood friends who are celebrating the 4th of July at an idyllic vacation home when an Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena, or UAP, crash-lands nearby. In more casting news, Lukas Gage is joining the ensemble for romantic comedy Love Language alongside Anthony Ramos, Billie Lourd, and more! Stay tuned for plot details.

6.) Marvel dropped a midseason trailer for Agatha All Along! In the beloved queer series, the titular Agatha finds herself out of powers after a suspicious goth teen (Joe Locke)—later revealed to be Billy Maximoff—helps break her free from a distorted spell. Together, Agatha and Billy pull together a desperate new coven, including warrior witch Rio Vidal (Aubrey Plaza), to tackle the legendary Witches’ Road. 7.) Matteo Lane announced an upcoming stand-up special for Hulu! The gay comedian will tape the hour-long set on October 24 at the Eli and Edythe Broad Stage in Santa Monica. Kicking off in November, Hulu’s “Hularious” series will also feature specials from out stars Ilana Glazer and Jessica Kirson. Keep an eye out for more information on these exciting projects!

8.) Queer Bottoms breakout star Ruby Cruz has been set as a series regular in season five of Apple TV+’s For All Mankind. The previous season jumped forward a decade, landing in the 21st century where the USSR is still intact and a female is GOP POTUS, a Black gay astronaut comes out from Mars, and a race to the red planet pits superpowers and private industry against each other. In the upcoming season, Cruz will play Lily Dale, the youngest daughter of Miles and Amanda Dale!

9.) Lesbian pop sensation Zolita dropped a new single “Bye Bye Baby” alongside an adorable lyric video! Additionally, indie pop artist and self-proclaimed “Lesbian Overlord” Polly Money debuted the track “Anything (Cool Online x Ross MacDonald Remix),” a re-work of her latest autobiographical single — watch the visualizer below! In more music news, gay Scottish composer and musician C Duncan announced his new album It’s Only a Love Song, out January 24. 10.) LGBTQ-inclusive TV shows won big at the 2024 Sentinel Awards, which has shared its winners ahead of next week’s ceremony! Presented by Hollywood, Health & Society at the USC Annenberg Norman Lear Center, the awards recognize writers for meaningful and accurate portrayals of timely topics such as abortion, systemic racism, climate change, and mental health. Winners include the dynamic writers of Hacks, Grey’s Anatomy, The Morning Show, Abbott Elementary, and more; check out the full list!
