1.) NEON’s horror flick Cuckoo hits theaters today! The film stars Hunter Schafer as seventeen-year-old Gretchen, who reluctantly leaves America to live with her father at a resort in the German Alps. Plagued by strange noises and bloody visions, she soon discovers a shocking secret that concerns her own family. Watch the trailer below and catch Cuckoo in a theater near you!
2.) Fuse Media and La Jaula Studios announced the limited theatrical release of Unfightable! From Emmy Award-winning director Marc J. Perez, the documentary tells the extraordinary story of Alana McLaughlin, a distinguished U.S. Army Special Forces Sergeant and transgender athlete fighting for control of her life and her narrative by competing as a professional MMA fighter. Unfightable makes its theatrical debut in New York September 13 and Los Angeles September 20. In the coming months, the doc is also set to premiere for Spanish language audiences on ViX, as well as English audiences on Fuse!

3.) What We Do in the Shadows breakout Harvey Guillén is set to executive producer and star opposite previously announced actress Kate Siegel in Damned If You Do. The dark comedy follows a group of teenagers who sold their souls to the devil, going on to become a rock star, a tech mogul, and a high-profile activist. Years later, they enlist an old classmate to help escape Hell’s grasp before the contract’s deadline of their 25th high school reunion. Stay tuned for release information!

4.) Vertical has acquired the rights to the comedic thriller I Don’t Understand You. The film follows Dom (Nick Kroll) and Cole (Andrew Rannells), a couple on the verge of adopting a baby who decide to embark on an Italian vacation. When the couple gets lost on their way to dinner and their car breaks down, escalating relationship turmoil could explode at any moment! In more comedy-thriller news, Lukas Gage has been set to star in Full Throttle Mindset. Based on an article in the St. Louis Riverfront Times, the pic tells the true story of Blake Laubinger (Gage), a young burnout who’s taken under the wing of a Midwestern tanning salon mogul named Todd Beckman (Josh Duhamel). But Laubinger soon learns that his new mentor’s business is a front for a drug empire.

5.) FOX unveiled a first-look at 9-1-1 Lone Star season five, premiering September 23! The GLAAD Media Award-winning spin-off drama follows the lives of Austin’s 126 Fire Department, which is led by Captain Owen Strand (Rob Lowe) alongside his adult son T.K. (Ronen Rubinstein) In the upcoming season, T.K. gets a surprise visit from someone in his past that could change his and Carlos’ lives forever and the newlyweds are put to the test when Carlos becomes obsessed with solving his father’s murder. 6.) Apple TV+ announced an October 16 release date for the sophomore season of Shrinking. The dramedy follows grieving therapist Jimmy (Jason Segel), who starts to break the rules and tell his clients his true opinions, ignoring his training and ethics. Michael Urie is set to reprise his role as Brian, Jimmy’s gay best friend that he ghosted after his wife’s sudden death. Stream the first season today!

7.) Netflix picked up the psychological thriller His & Hers with Tessa Thompson at the helm! The limited series is based on Alice Feeney’s novel of the same name and follows Anna (Thompson), who lives in haunted reclusivity in the sweltering Atlanta heat. When she overhears about a murder in her hometown, Anna is snapped back to life. But as Detective Jack Harper becomes strangely suspicious of her involvement in the investigation, two sides of the story emerge: his and hers, which means someone is always lying.

8.) Sarah Paulson and Neicy Nash-Betts have joined the ensemble of Ryan Murphy’s new legal series All Fair alongside Kim Kardashian, Glenn Close, and Teyana Taylor! Executive produced by Paulson and Nash, the Hulu series is set at a women-led Los Angeles law firm in what Murphy describes as a “high-end, glossy and sexy adult procedural.” Keep an eye out for Paulson and Nash’s character descriptions!

9.) Indie-pop band The Collection shared their new album Little Deaths, discussing queer frontman David Wimbish’s struggle with depression and sobriety! Out singer-songwriter Boy Jr. also released the new single “Still Be Friends,” off their upcoming full length DIY album I Love Getting Dumped; watch the music video below! Plus, Brooklyn-based alt-rap artist Noble Lyfe and KARRAHBOO joined forces to release a self-love summer anthem “2 Pretty.” Finally, Sherry Vine revealed the music video “Pink” from The Sherry Vine Variety Show season three; watch the show now on OUTtv, with new episodes every Thursday!
10.) MTV unveiled the nominees for the 2024 Video Music Awards (VMAs), featuring a bevy of LGBTQ artists! Among the LGBTQ nominees are Chappell Roan, Victoria Monét, Billie Eilish, Bad Bunny, Annitta, Troye Sivan, Green Day, and more. Fans can now vote for their favorites across 15 gender-neutral categories, including Video of the Year, Best Collaboration, and Artist of the Year, by visiting vote.mtv.com through August 30!
