Spencer Stevenson recalls the first time he knew he wanted to be an actor.
“The second I discovered Raven-Symoné in That’s So Raven was the moment for me!” Stevenson told GLAAD in a recent interview. He added, “I was like, ‘I have to be her!’… an icon!”
Originally from Texas, Stevenson has appeared in feature films Rosaline, Never Goin’ Back, and Paris. His TV credits include many series including The Purge, Mindhunter, Solve, and One Mississippi. He now stars in the new workplace comedy, The Z-Suite.

Created by Katie O’Brien, The Z-Suite is Tubi‘s first original scripted comedy series and follows Monica Marks (a stellar Lauren Graham), the CEO of Atelier Advertising agency as a team of Gen Z’ers take over the agency’s C-suite. Her team includes Stevenson’s Elliot, the eccentric and stylish social media team member at the boutique New York ad agency. The cast also includes Madison Shamoun, Nico Santos, Anna Bezahler, and Evan Marsh.

What attracted you to The Z-Suite and the role of Elliot?
Katie O’Brien really got me excited about The Z-Suite! I met her during my callback and network test. She’s just so cool and I was obsessed from the start! I read for the role a couple of times and never received a note on the character so I think the choices and ideas I had of Elliot were working which excited me as an actor. He really came from my imagination in terms of essence and presence.
Are you as fashionable as Elliot? What are some of your favorite outfits he has worn in the series
Absolutely not. I’m a hoodie and sweats type of guy. I choose comfort over anything, TBH. If it doesn’t take five seconds to take off when I get home, I don’t wanna wear it (laughs). My favorite looks of Elliot’s would have to be his school-girl look in episode two and his “cowboy the house down boots” look in episode three. But honestly, everything he wears is so cool and such a moment. Shoutout to our wardrobe department because they ATE!

How do you think The Z-Suite helps close the gaps between Gen Z, Millennials, Gen X’ers, and Baby Boomers?
Not sure about closing the gap because they’re all sooooo different but I think the message that should be taken from the show is we’re all just people and every generation will have differences… but If you really think about it, we’re similar in more ways than not.
The LGBTQ representation in the series is strong. What does it mean for you to be in a series like The Z-Suite at a time when queer representation is under attack?
Yes! [The representation] is so strong and I’m obsessed. It means the most to me! Representation matters so much! Everyone deserves to feel seen and heard and if I can help that in any way, sign me up, babe. I’m giving my younger self the validation he didn’t get growing up and not really seeing himself represented on screen anywhere. And now I’m confident in the man I am today.

How do you protect your peace in 2025?
By minding my business, shutting my mouth, and walking out the door.
What advice do you have for those in the LGBTQ community who feel helpless and hopeless right now?
It’s important to remember that you’re not alone. Reach out for support, never forget your worth, find safe spaces, take small steps every day, and always hold onto hope!
What is one role or genre you want to do in the near future?
I was briefly on The Purge and kinda loved the horror/thriller vibe. I think I can see myself being a scream queen to be completely honest. I think horror will always be exciting, so that’s definitely something I’m interested in….also a superhero film or show. Wink, wink MARVEL!
New episodes of The Z-Suite drop on Tubi every Thursday.
