For the first time since coming out as gay, J-Pop star Shinjiro Atae attended the Tokyo Pride parade!
In July of 2023, Japanese pop icon and member of the group AAA, Shinjiro Atae made headlines with his courageous decision to come out publicly as a member of the LGBTQ community. Now, out and proud, Atae attended this year’s annual Tokyo Rainbow Pride celebration!
On April 21st, Atae marched in support of Marriage For All Japan, and even appeared on the organization’s float. In Japan, two individuals who are legally the same sex are not permitted to marry, this organization is working to change that.
Atae also gave a moving speech and powerful live performance on the main stage the parade.
