Third Eye Blind frontman to perform hit song ‘Jumper’ at GLAAD Gala San Francisco: Game Changers
SAN FRANCISCO – GLAAD, the nation’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) media advocacy organization, today announced that award-winning alternative rock band Third Eye Blind's lead singer Stephan Jenkins will perform acoustically at GLAAD Gala San Francisco: Game Changers at the Hilton San Francisco Union Square on September 13, 2014. GLAAD Gala San Francisco: Game Changers is presented nationally by Ketel One Vodka, Wells Fargo, and Hilton Worldwide. The event is presented locally by Southwest Airlines. The event will be hosted by “Orange is the New Black” star Taryn Manning and will feature a special performance by “Glee” star Alex Newell.
Stephan Jenkins will perform Third Eye Blind's hit single "Jumper" from the band’s debut album. "Jumper," which rose to the top of the music charts in the late '90s, was inspired by a gay teenager who died by suicide and urges understanding for friends who are struggling.
Additionally, openly gay indie pop singer-songwriter Eli Lieb will perform his single, "Young Love," which has amassed over 2.4 million views on YouTube and features Lieb in a same-sex relationship. NewNowNext Award-winner Neon Hitch, whose nationwide tour kicks off next month, will headline the event after party with her new single “Yard Sale” and other songs from her debut album “Eleutheromanic.”
GLAAD previously announced that technology leader Google and video-sharing innovator YouTube will receive the Ric Weiland Award, which honors innovators who advance LGBT equality through tech and new media. Perry, the landmark case that struck down California’s Proposition 8, will receive the Presidential Local Hero Award at the event; Golden State Warriors President & COO Rick Welts, the highest ranking openly gay executive in men’s professional team sports, will receive GLAAD’s Davidson/Valentini Award.
