PHOTOS: GLAAD CELEBRATES LATINE HERITAGE MONTH WITH A NIGHT OF LGBTQ COMEDY AND SEASON 2 PREMIERE OF DIGITAL ORIGINAL SERIES “DÍMELO” AT CAA IN LA
Los Angeles, CA – September 20, 2024 – Last night, GLAAD, the world’s largest and leading LGBTQ media advocacy organization, kicked off Latine Heritage Month with a night of comedy featuring Danielle Perez, Gabe González, Lorena Russ, and Roz Hernandez; hosted by Creative Artists Agency in Los Angeles. Fellow creatives and industry professionals in attendance included Damian Terriquez, Mimi Davila, Salina EsTitties and Tony Rodriguez.
The event also featured an exclusive first look at the new season of Dímelo, a digital original series from GLAAD and LatiNation, which takes a sharp, funny look at stereotypes while uncovering surprising data on how our communities are represented in the media. Hosted by Gabe González, select episodes of Dímelo are streaming now on YouTube and the Latination app, and features hilarious interviews with Vico Ortiz, Lorena Russi, Roz Hernandez, Danielle Perez, and Ian Paget.
Dímelo was produced by GLAAD’s Spanish-Language & Latine Media team within the GLAAD Media Institute, GLAAD’s training, research and consulting division of the organization. Monica Trasandes, Senior Director, Spanish-Language & Latine Media & Representation at GLAAD, alongside GLAAD’s Gwendolyn Pointer and LatiNation CEO Andrés Palencia served as executive producers. Gabe González, Isa Fernandez and Ross Murray served as producers for the series, and Tyler Miguel Mercer who served as director.
This comes as GLAAD research shows that Latine representation in TV and film is on the decline. More specifically, GLAAD’s latest Where We Are on TV report found the drop in LGBTQ Latine characters on television this year “worrisome.” Despite Latines being the most likely demographic to identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community in the U.S., they’re seeing fewer studios and networks willing to tell their stories. That’s why highlighting the talented and funny performers featured on this season of Dímelo feels more urgent, and necessary, than it has in recent memory.
