MELISSA ETHERIDGE TO MARCH WITH GLAAD IN HISTORIC WORLDPRIDE MARCH IN NEW YORK CITY

Etheridge will also perform at the WorldPride Closing Ceremony in New York City’s famed Times Square

New York, NY, June 27, 2019 – Today, GLAAD, the world’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) media advocacy organization, announced that singer-songwriter Melissa Etheridge will be joining GLAAD’s float in the WorldPride March in New York City on June 30. Etheridge will also be performing at the World Pride Closing Ceremony in Times Square that evening. 

Since the release of her unforgettable self-titled 1988 debut, Melissa Etheridge’s incredible career to date includes sales of over 25 million albums, 5 platinum and 3 multi-platinum records, 15 GRAMMY Award nominations and 2 wins, a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and an Academy Award for “I Need to Wake Up” from the climate change documentary An Inconvenient Truth. Her 2016 release, Memphis Rock & Soul, debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Blues Chart. Etheridge has selflessly dedicated herself as an activist for human rights, LGBTQ issues, breast cancer awareness and alternative medical approaches.

Etheridge is currently on an expansive U.S. tour in support of her new album The Medicine Show, which was released in April. The tour includes special summer dates with Pat Benatar & Neil Geraldo and LizPhair.

Kicking off at 12pm on June 30, marchers in WorldPride Parade will step off at 26th Street and 5th Avenue near Madison Square Park, making their way down past Stonewall National Monument, and then finishing the march at 23rd Street and 7th Avenue.
