Lizzo To Perform at the 30th Annual GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles on Thursday, March 28
Gwyneth Paltrow, Lena Waithe, Janet Mock, Meghan Trainor, Olivia Munn, Adam Rippon, Hayley Kiyoko, Barbara Corcoran, Erika Jayne, Jake Borelli, and Alex Landi join Vanguard Award Honorees Beyoncé and JAY-Z and Stephen F. Kolzak Award Recipient Sean Hayes
Los Angeles, CA – GLAAD, the world’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) media advocacy organization, announced today that Lizzo will perform at the 30th Annual GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles at the Beverly Hilton on Thursday, March 28, 2019. GLAAD also announced a star-studded line-up of presenters and special guests including Academy Award-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow, Emmy Award-winning writer, producer and actor Lena Waithe (The Chi, Boomerang), writer, producer, and director Janet Mock (Pose), Jake Borelli (Grey’s Anatomy), Barbara Corcoran (Shark Tank), Erika Jayne (Real Housewives of Beverly Hills), MTV VMA Push Artist of the Year Hayley Kiyoko, Alex Landi (Grey’s Anatomy), Olivia Munn (The Rook), Olympic medalist Adam Rippon, and Grammy Award-winning Meghan Trainor.
The 30th Annual GLAAD Media Awards honor media for fair, accurate, and inclusive representations of LGBTQ people and issues.
As previously announced, Beyoncé and JAY-Z will receive GLAAD’s Vanguard Award and Sean Hayes will receive the Stephen F. Kolzak Award during the Los Angeles event. Previously announced guests and presenters include Academy Award-winning actress Allison Janney (Mom), the cast of Netflix’s Queer Eye, author and social media star Gigi Gorgeous, Jameela Jamil (The Good Place), Shangela (A Star is Born, RuPaul’s Drag Race), Dan Reynolds of Imagine Dragons, Nico Santos (Superstore, Crazy Rich Asians), as well as Jennifer Tilly and Gina Gershon, who will reunite from the 1996 GLAAD Media Award-winning film Bound. Ross Mathews will host and Sara Cunningham, founder of Free Mom Hugs, will speak about her work with parents and LGBTQ youth across the country.

The 30th Annual GLAAD Media Awards will be held in Los Angeles on Thursday, March 28 and continue in New York City on Saturday, May 4. The 30th Annual GLAAD Media Awards are presented by Delta Air Lines, Gilead, Hyundai, Ketel One Family-Made Vodka, and Wells Fargo.
GLAAD previously announced that Madonna will receive the Advocate for Change Award and Andy Cohen will receive the Vito Russo Award from Sarah Jessica Parker in New York City on May 4. Additional special guests for the New York City event include Don Lemon, Samantha Bee, and cast members of Pose. The New York City ceremony will air exclusively on Logo on Sunday, May 12.
Lizzo will open the Los Angeles event on March 28 with her new anthem “Juice.”
She has been an outspoken LGBTQ ally an emblem of body positivity and female empowerment. Lizzo has released a string of hit tracks this year – including “Juice,” “Cuz I Love You,” and the most recently released “Tempo” featuring Missy Elliott – all leading up to her highly anticipated debut album CUZ I LOVE YOU out April 19 on Atlantic Records.
Lizzo has graced the covers of Teen Vogue, Galore, Gay Times (UK), and most recently New York Magazine’s Spring Fashion Issue and Allure. Lizzo marked the upcoming arrival of CUZ I LOVE YOU with a number of high-profile TV appearances, including performances of “Juice” on the nationally syndicated Ellen DeGeneres Show and NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon as well as a guest appearance on HBO’s 2 Dope Queens. Additionally, Lizzo will embark on her sold out “CUZ I LOVE YOU TOUR” on April 22.
GLAAD previously announced 151 nominees for the 30th Annual GLAAD Media Awards in 27 categories, including an inaugural category for Outstanding Video Game, along with Kids & Family Programming, Comedy and Drama Series, Documentary, Reality Series, Music Artist, Comic Book, print, broadcast, and online news, and five Spanish-language categories. Nominees include Pose, Love Simon, Crazy Rich Asians, Will & Grace, The Favourite, Schitt’s Creek, The Handmaid’s Tale, Nanette, Janelle Monáe, Hayley Kiyoko, Troye Sivan, American Idol, RuPaul’s Drag Race, She-Ra, Law & Order: SVU, Don Lemon, Stephen Colbert, Samantha Bee, Univision, MSNBC, Ebony, GQ, CNN, and The New York Times.
