Hannah Hart to be honored at GLAAD Gala San Francisco
San Francisco – GLAAD, the world’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) media advocacy organization, today announced that it will honor online personality Hannah Hart at GLAAD Gala San Francisco at City View at Metreon on September 8, 2016. For more information visit www.glaad.org/sfgala.
GLAAD Gala San Francisco is made possible with the support of presenting partners Ketel One Vodka and Wells Fargo with Official Airline Delta Air Lines. The event will feature a special performance by recording artist Halsey and will be hosted by talk show host, actress, comedian, author, producer, writer, and director Aisha Tyler. GLAAD previously announced that Salesforce Chairman & CEO Marc Benioff will receive GLAAD’s Ric Weiland Award at the event.
At the gala, Hart will receive the Davidson/Valentini Award, which is presented to an LGBT media professional who has made a significant difference in promoting equality and acceptance for the LGBT community. The award is named after Craig Davidson, GLAAD's first executive director, and his partner Michael Valentini.
With more than 2.5 million subscribers on YouTube, Hart is one of social media’s most influential LGBT voices, consistently using her platform to build understanding and advance acceptance. In her video series, “Coming Out,” which has amassed millions of views, Hart features candid conversations about LGBT issues and identity, as well as personal stories about her own experience as a gay person.
In addition to being an influencer, Hannah Hart is also an actress, producer, philanthropist, and best-selling author, whose first book "My Drunk Kitchen: A Guide to Eating, Drinking, and Going with Your Gut,” spent six weeks on the New York Times Best Sellers list. Hart was recognized by the White House for her impact through her international initiative "Have A Hart Day" and was invited to lead a discussion about millennial engagement with President Obama. In 2015, Hart was named one of Forbes’ 30 Under 30, an annual list which highlights talented individuals under 30 years old across a variety of fields. Her highly anticipated sophomore book called "Buffering: Unshared Tales Of A Life Fully Loaded," will be released in October 2016. Hart also co-produced and stars in Lionsgate's forthcoming comedy "Dirty 30," which releases in theaters on September 23rd. Hart was recently announced as the host of a new six-episode culinary-adventure TV series with the Food Network debuting later this year and she is currently in development on numerous scripted series for television.
“By using her powerful platform to elevate LGBTQ stories, Hannah Hart has proven to be a tireless advocate for self-love and acceptance,” said GLAAD President & CEO Sarah Kate Ellis. “Her messages of empowerment inspire countless LGBTQ youth and move hearts and minds across the world.”
