GLAAD PRESIDENT & CEO SARAH KATE ELLIS SHOWS ALLYSHIP FOR TRANSGENDER COMMUNITY IN CUSTOM CHRISTIAN SIRIANO FEATURING COLORS OF THE TRANSGENDER FLAG AT TIME100 GALA
Ellis is featured on the TIME100 list of the most influential people of 2023
New York, NY (April 26, 2023) — LGBTQ advocacy organization GLAAD is excited to share fashion credits for Sarah Kate Ellis, GLAAD’s President & CEO, during her appearance at the TIME100 Gala tonight. Ellis was named to the 2023 TIME100, TIME’s annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world. She attended the Gala with her wife, musician Kristen Ellis-Henderson.
Ellis showed her allyship for transgender people in a custom suit and pant ensemble by Christian Siriano which incorporates the colors of the transgender flag, light blue, light pink and white.

Ellis also wore a special edition diamond-encrusted amplifier pin created by celebrity jeweler Zameer Kassam. The pin, in the shape of GLAAD’s logo, symbolizes the urgent need for allies and LGBTQ people to amplify their voices. Previous wearers of the special edition pin include Gabrielle Union, Jennifer Coolidge and Margaret Cho among others.
“Allies to transgender people need to be vocal, visible, and to call out extremists and media figures who are working overtime to harm transgender people and spread lies about who they are,” said GLAAD President and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis. “As a woman and a mom, I believe every young person, including transgender youth, should be able to grow up knowing that they’ll be treated fairly and equally.”
“Working with Sarah Kate for this event was an honor. We wanted a look that was powerful and strong, but still elegant, so we created a gorgeous custom suit honoring the trans flag which features white, pink and blue. It’s a power suit with meaning,” said designer Christian Siriano.
Yesterday, Ellis spoke at the TIME100 Summit alongside iconic labor leader and civil rights advocate Dolores Huerta during a panel entitled ‘How to Build a Movement’ moderated by CNN”s Abby Phillip. Other LGBTQ leaders who appear on the TIME100 list this year include: Brittney Griner, Imara Jones, Sam Altman, Thom Browne, Jerrod Carmichael, Steve Lacy, Aubrey Plaza and Wolfgang Tillmans.
