GLAAD EXCLUSIVELY ANNOUNCES BLACK QUEER ART CURATOR RACQUEL CHEVREMONT IS JOINING THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF NEW YORK CITY

New York, New York – June 27, 2024 – GLAAD, the world’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) media advocacy organization, announced today that LGBTQ art curator Racquel Chevremont will join the newest season of The Real Housewives of New York City. Chevremont will debut in the upcoming season as the franchise’s second queer housewife following RHONY veteran Jenna Lyons. They will be joined by Sai De Silva, Ubah Hassan, Erin Lichy, Jessel Taank, and Brynn Whitfield, returning for Season 15 of the highly acclaimed franchise.

In the exclusive interview with GLAAD, Chevremont said, “My entire adult life has been about representation and using whatever platform I have to get the voices of queer folks of the diaspora out there. What better way to do so if not as a member of this iconic franchise.”

Chevremont added, “In the current world climate it’s important for not only our community to see themselves represented, but also for the world to get to know a queer family in a more intimate way and show that we all have more similarities than not. That queer women can be successful, beautiful and in loving relationships raising children too. That this world exists.”

ABOUT RACQUEL CHEVREMONT

Born in Brooklyn and raised in The Bronx, Racquel Chevremont was discovered by photographer and model scout Steve Landis for Elite models in 1993. She has graced ad campaigns for Benetton, Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, Fila, L’Oréal, Nivea as well as International Elle magazine covers, etc. Alongside modeling, Racquel entered into the art world over 20 years ago working with institutions and advising corporations, collectors and artists alike.

Chevremont’s career in the arts began as a collector lending works from her personal collection to institutional exhibitions. In 2003, she joined the acquisition committees of the Studio Museum in Harlem and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. In 2008, she co-founded and personally funded the State Street Salon, a Brooklyn-based hub for artists, curators and collectors. She has organized exhibitions for Yancey Richardson Gallery, Venus Over Manhattan, The Parrish Art Museum and Pioneer Works. She has curated artists such as Dawoud Bey, Natia Lemay, Glenn Ligon, Julie Mehretu, Gordon Parks, Deborah Roberts, Gary Simmons, Shinique Smith, Barthelemy Toguo, Carrie Mae Weems and more into collections for award nominated films and television series, including Severance, Empire, Law and Order: Organized Crime, And Just Like That… and Netflix’s Leave The World Behind. For the last 3 years she has curated the art awards program for the Tribeca Film Festival.
