GLAAD EXCLUSIVELY ANNOUNCES BLACK QUEER ART CURATOR RACQUEL CHEVREMONT IS JOINING THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF NEW YORK CITY
New York, New York – June 27, 2024 – GLAAD, the world’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) media advocacy organization, announced today that LGBTQ art curator Racquel Chevremont will join the newest season of The Real Housewives of New York City. Chevremont will debut in the upcoming season as the franchise’s second queer housewife following RHONY veteran Jenna Lyons. They will be joined by Sai De Silva, Ubah Hassan, Erin Lichy, Jessel Taank, and Brynn Whitfield, returning for Season 15 of the highly acclaimed franchise.
In the exclusive interview with GLAAD, Chevremont said, “My entire adult life has been about representation and using whatever platform I have to get the voices of queer folks of the diaspora out there. What better way to do so if not as a member of this iconic franchise.”
Chevremont added, “In the current world climate it’s important for not only our community to see themselves represented, but also for the world to get to know a queer family in a more intimate way and show that we all have more similarities than not. That queer women can be successful, beautiful and in loving relationships raising children too. That this world exists.”
Statement from Tony Morrison, GLAAD Senior Director of Communications:
“Bravo has a long history of casting entertaining and dynamic LGBTQ people in their highly popular programming, and it’s exciting to see Racquel Chevremont, a highly successful Black queer model, art curator, mom and more, join the cast of ‘The Real Housewives of New York City.’ Together with Jenna Lyons, Chevremont will undoubtedly bring a fresh perspective and new storytelling to one of the most-watched franchises on television, enhancing it to better reflect the vibrant and celebrated diversity of New York.”
