Nueva York, NY – jueves, 28 de enero, 2021 – GLAAD, la organización más grande del mundo que aboga por las personas lesbianas, gays, bisexuales, transgénero y queer (LGBTQ) en los medios de comunicación, anunció hoy los nominados para la 32a Entrega de los Premios GLAAD.

Actriz Josie Totah (Saved By The Bell en Peacock), D.J. ‘Shangela’ Pierce (We’re Here de HBO), y actor Jonathan Bennett (The Christmas House del Hallmark Channel) anunciaron los nominados en la página de TikTok de GLAAD.

Los Premios GLAAD sirven para reconocer y homenajear a los medios de comunicación por sus representaciones justas, equitativas, exactas e inclusivas de las personas lesbianas, gays, bisexuales y transgénero y los temas que afectan a nuestras vidas. Desde su creación en 1990 los Premios GLAAD han llegado a ser los premios LGBTQ más visibles del mundo y envían un mensaje importante sobre la aceptación a una audiencia global. La 32a Entrega de los Premios GLAAD es presentada por Gilead y Ketel One Family-Made Vodka.

Previamente anunciados homenajes a Taylor Swift, Janet Mock, Ryan Murphy, y Judith Light serán presentados en otra fecha que se anunciara en el futuro.

“Durante un año sin precedentes, de crisis y aislamiento, los nominados a los Premios GLAAD pudieron conectar a miembros de comunidades LGBTQ con historias poderosas y también lograron inspirar a innumerables individuos en todo el mundo con proyectos dinámicos que cuentan las historias de las personas LGBTQ y hablan de los temas que nos impactan,” dijo la presidenta y directora ejecutiva de GLAAD, Sarah Kate Ellis. “A medida que GLAAD continúa liderando la lucha por la aceptación LGBTQ, los nominados de este año nos recuerdan que incluso en tiempos de división política y cultural, la visibilidad y representación LGBTQ que es diversa puede iluminar, entretener y crear un cambio duradero.”

En medio de un movimiento social muy atrasado contra la discriminación racial y étnica, varios de los nominados en la 32ª edición anual de los Premios GLAAD incluyen historias poderosas e impactantes sobre personas de color LGBTQ.

Estos nominados incluyen: Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, The Prom, The Craft: Legacy, Twenties, 9-1-1: Lone Star, Love, Victor, Superstore, Star Trek: Discovery, Vida, Sex Education, P-Valley, I May Destroy You, The Half of It, Monsoon, Lingua Franca, The Boys in the Band, I Carry You With Me, Kajillionaire, The Wilds, Supergirl, Big Mouth, Dead to Me, Everything’s Gonna Be Okay, Wynonna Earp, Dispatches from Elsewhere, Hollywood, Little Fires Everywhere, Legendary, Queer Eye, RuPaul’s Drag Race, We’re Here, TransGriot, y The Reckoning, entre otros.

Cada año, GLAAD otorga premios de reconocimiento especial no competitivos a proyectos de medios que no encajan en una de las categorías existentes de Premios GLAAD. Entre ellos este año está “Love (Es Nuestro Idioma)” de Jesse & Joy. Este dúo mexicano se destacó en crear una canción y video que llamaron atención a los tremendos daños que causa tratar de forzar a una persona que cambie su orientación u identidad de género. Ambos han realizado numerosas entrevistas mediáticas y han utilizado su plataforma para denunciar la homofobia y para llamar atención al trabajo admirable de organizaciones como Yaaj México.

La 32ª Entrega de los Premios GLAAD es presentada por Gilead y Ketel One Family-Made Vodka. GLAAD también agradece a Socio Platinum Bud Light.
