GLAAD ANNOUNCES SEASON 2 PREMIERE OF DIGITAL ORIGINAL SERIES, “DÍMELO,” SPOTLIGHTING LATINE LGBTQ VOICES IN COMEDY, PRODUCED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH LATINATION MEDIA

“Dímelo,” an irreverent interview series produced by the GLAAD Media Institute’s Spanish-Language & Latine Media team in partnership with LatiNation Media, returns for a second season exploring identity & representation from the perspective of LGBTQ Latine comedians

Season two guests include Vico Ortiz, Roz Hernandez, Danielle Perez, Ian Paget & Lorena Russi. Hosted by comedian & writer, Gabe González.

New York, NY – Tuesday, September 10, 2024 – GLAAD, the world’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) media advocacy organization, today announced the second season of the GLAAD digital original series, “Dímelo.” The series debuts amid this year’s Latine Heritage Month with five episodes, which spotlight LGBTQ Latine comics working across television, stage, and digital platforms.

Hosted by comedian, writer and GLAAD Media Institute consultant Gabe González, “Dímelo” offers an irreverent, fast-paced, and comedic look at Latine identity and representation from the perspective of LGBTQ comedians.

“Dímelo” serves up a series of non-traditional conversations alongside an acerbic critique of media tropes, with unfiltered opinions about how LGBTQ Latine identity is (mis)understood, while learning about our guests – and what they hope to change – in the process.

The season premiere will be available to watch on GLAAD’s YouTube and LatiNation+ app, with exclusive clips from each interview released on Instagram and TikTok, starting Tuesday, September 19. New episodes will premiere each week on GLAAD’s YouTube through October 15 and can be found on the LatiNation+ app after airing.

“Dímelo” season 2 features five LGBTQ Latine comedians:

Vico Ortiz is a Puerto Rican actor, comedian, activist and drag performer. You’ve seen them on shows like Transparent, VIDA, American Horror Story 1984, The Fosters and most recently as “Jim” on Our Flag Means Death. They’re also a regular on the digital series These Thems, which you can watch on YouTube, and work as an advocate for inclusive language in both English and Spanish-language media. Roz Hernandez is a Mexican-American comedian, drag performer and paranormal expert. You can catch her on the Hulu series ‘Living for the Dead’ or listen to her podcast ‘Ghosted!’ where she interviews comedians and actors about their spookiest experiences. She’s also featured on the Netflix documentary “Outstanding: A Comedy Revolution.”

Danielle Perez is an Afro-Dominican comedian, writer, actor and diva. You’ve seen her on shows like Russian Doll, Curb Your Enthusiasm and A Little Late with Lilly Singh, as well as the MTV digital series Decoded. Most recently, she’s appeared in the film Dicks the Musical and voiced “Sun Spider” in Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse. She’s performed for Comedy Central and was part of JFL’s New Faces in 2021.

Ian Paget is a Honduran-American actor, dancer and content creator who’s appeared in shows like Pam & Tommy, Mozart in the Jungle, and One Life to Live, as well as films like Rock of Ages and Step Up Revolution. He is also one of the hosts of the Tres Leches podcast and is a former GLAAD Media Award nominee.

Lorena Russi is a Colombian-American comedian and former professional athlete. She’s worked as a writer, director, and host for PBS, as well as a writer for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert digital team and the HBO series Pause with Sam Jay. She was selected as an IMDB emerging filmmaker and has been a featured stand-up for both Comedy Central and the “Netflix is a Joke” Festival.

Gabe González is a Puerto Rican comedian, writer and actor living in Brooklyn, NY. He was born and raised in Central Florida. Gabe can be seen in Season 4 of The Last OG, the HBO Latino documentary Habla y Vota, and starred in Audible’s The Comedians. His half-hour pilot Los Blancos was a winner at the Yes And Laughter Lab in 2019 and his satirical sketch “Bootlickers” was featured in Vulture, as well as the LA Comedy Film Festival and Atlanta Comedy Festival in 2022. Gabe hosted the Queerty Podcast from Forever Dog, wrote for Seasons 7 & 8 of MTV’s ‘Decoded’ and currently hosts the Peabody Awards’ “We Disrupt This Broadcast” podcast. His latest projects include a monthly queer comedy show at C’mon Everybody in NYC called “The Lavender Scare” and working with Imagine Entertainment to pen the short film Alma.

“Dímelo” will air weekly on YouTube and share clips from the series on Instagram & Tik Tok throughout September and October. Episode 1 (Sept. 16) features Vico Ortiz, Episode 2 (Sept. 23) features Roz Hernandez, Episode 3 (Sept. 30) features Danielle Perez, Episode 4 (Oct. 7) features Ian Paget and Episode 5 (Oct. 14) features Lorena Russi.

“Dímelo” was produced by GLAAD’s Spanish-Language & Latine Media team within the GLAAD Media Institute, GLAAD’s training, research and consulting division of the organization. Monica Trasandes, Senior Director, Spanish-Language & Latine Media & Representation at GLAAD, alongside GLAAD’s Gwendolyn Pointer and LatiNation CEO Andrés Palencia served as executive producers. Gabe González, Isa Fernandez and Ross Murray served as producers for the series, with Tyler Miguel Mercer directing.

The new season of “Dímelo” debuts as GLAAD research shows Latine representation in TV and film is on the decline. More specifically, GLAAD’s latest Where We Are on TV report found the drop in LGBTQ Latine characters on television this year “worrisome.” Despite Latines being the most likely demographic to identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community in the U.S., they’re seeing fewer studios and networks willing to tell their stories. That’s why highlighting the talented and funny performers featured on this season of “Dímelo” feels more urgent, and necessary, than it has in recent memory.
