GLAAD ANNOUNCES PRIDE 2025: ONE STORY. ONE FUTURE.
New York, New York – Monday, June 2, 2025 – GLAAD, the world’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) media advocacy organization, today announced Pride 2025: One Story. One Future., with resources, programs, initiatives designated to enhance dialogue during Pride Month. GLAAD has also updated its community resource hub at GLAAD.org/PRIDE.
Pride is for everyone. This Pride Month, GLAAD urges the LGBTQ community and its allies to unite in defense of equality, love, and freedom. Each member of the LGBTQ community has their own story, but the fight for justice, rights, and visibility is one that binds us all together. . Because a world that is safer, freer, and more joyful for LGBTQ people is a better world for everyone, as we share and are rooted in one story and one future.
Despite more than 500 anti-LGBTQ bills introduced across the U.S. this past legislative session and threats of violence against LGBTQ people and families, the number of LGBTQ Americans continues to grow. In the latest polling from Gallup, LGBTQ people make up 9.3% of US adults and 23.1% of Gen Z. Across entertainment, where GLAAD is a creative partner and resource, LGBTQ stories continue to lead and grow, while supermajorities of Americans continue to support LGBTQ people and our right to live free from fear.
A Message From GLAAD President & CEO, Sarah Kate Ellis:
“Pride has always been powered by storytellers — the creators and truth-tellers who dare to envision a more just world. Our stories only reinforce that LGBTQ people are in every American family and share American values of fairness and the freedom to be who you are. Stories shift culture — and one storyteller can ignite a movement. That’s the heart of ‘One Story. One Future.’ Whether you have millions of followers or just a few of your friends and family, it is time to mobilize your influence on social media and beyond. This Pride Month, the most courageous act is showing up — loudly, visibly, and without apology — for the LGBTQ community and for an equal future we all deserve.”
GLAAD x WORLDPRIDE 2025 DC
GLAAD will be participating in WorldPride 2025 in Washington, D.C. In a featured session during the Human Rights Conference, GLAAD will host a special Activating for a Culture in Crisis panel taking place Thursday, June 5. The panel anchors the conference’s second day with an urgent conversation about LGBTQ advocacy in an era of rising anti-LGBTQ sentiment, misinformation, and global instability.
Held during the most expansive and politically significant WorldPride ever hosted in the United States, the WorldPride DC Human Rights Conference brings together leading global voices from government, advocacy, media, and civil society. This year’s WorldPride theme, “The Fabric of Freedom,” honors the 50th anniversary of Pride in Washington, D.C., and centers the intersections of identity, resistance, and access in the global LGBTQ movement.
GLAAD’s conversation will offer a unique lens into how media advocacy is evolving in real time. Through groundbreaking research, original insights, and personal testimony, the panel will spotlight how GLAAD is meeting this moment of crisis with new strategies designed to inspire new audiences, hold media institutions accountable, and protect LGBTQ storytelling as a force for survival.
GLAAD AS A PARTNER IN CORPORATE ALLYSHIP
GLAAD previously announced the results of a survey conducted by Ipsos using the probability-based KnowledgePanel that examined consumer sentiment regarding corporate engagement with LGBTQ communities and Pride Month. The survey also sought consumer opinion on core corporate values and on chief executives’ obligations to shareholders on issues that matter.
Key findings included:
- 70% of Americans say knowing a brand/store offers LGBTQ Pride merchandise either has a positive impact or no impact on their purchasing decisions.
- 71% of Americans agree that brands and companies should be able to show support to the LGBTQ community during Pride month if they want to.
- 85% of Americans believe CEOs have a responsibility to speak up about things that matter to their consumers and shareholders.
- 81% believe freedom means we all should be able to believe and behave as we choose, as long as it isn’t hurting anyone else.
- 74% believe companies should care about their bottom lines more than politics.
- Americans are more likely to agree than disagree that offering LGBTQ Pride merchandise is no different from offering merchandise with a sports team logo.
GLAAD’s Advertising Media Program works with brand and ad agency leaders to intentionally bring LGBTQ inclusivity and visibility into external campaigns and product development, backed up by internal policies that support LGBTQ employees, vendors, and stakeholders. Along with briefings, workshops, and consultancy with corporate partners, the program also measures the quality and quantity of LGBTQ inclusion in advertising.
