‘Red, White & Royal Blue’ Trailer: Taylor Zakhar Perez And Nicholas Galitzine Go From Feuding Frenemies To Secret Lovers In Regal Rom-Com

The new trailer for Red, White & Royal Blue is giving early ’00s political royal rom-com energy that compare to Princess Diaries , First Daughter, What a Girl Wants, and Chasing Liberty — but very much and intentionally queer.

Based on Casey McQuiston’s  New York Times best seller, Red, White & Royal Blue marks the feature film writing and directing debut of Tony Award-winning playwright Matthew López (The Inheritance). With Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter at the producing helm, the movie follows Alex Claremont-Diaz (Taylor Zakhar Perez), the son of the President of the United States (icon Uma Thurman), and Britain’s Prince Henry (Nicholas Galitzine).

Being the sons of prominent people in power, they are in the international public eye more often than not. They are both good-looking and charismatic. They also have an ongoing feud and despise each other — which we all know makes for great sexual tension.

This feud hasn’t been an issue until a very disastrous and public altercation at a royal event becomes tabloid fodder, driving a potential wedge in U.S./British relations at the worst possible time. For some damage control, they must stage a truce but what starts off as an act turns into something more than a friendship.

Red, White & Royal Blue debuts on on Prime Video on August 11. The movie was co-written by López and Ted Malawer. The movie also stars Clifton Collins Jr., Sarah Shahi, Rachel Hilson, Stephen Fry, Ellie Bamber, Thomas Flynn, Malcolm Atobrah, Akshay Khanna, Sharon D Clarke, Aneesh Sheth, and Juan Castano.
