Cromartie, who joins Brittany Allen and Laurence Basse in the finale, has been a strong contender throughout the season, serving some incredible looks, including a green number that had the judges gagging in the “Show us your Peacock” episode where the designers had to create a “peacocking” red carpet look for man.
“We as designers, we have these ideas for things that we want to do, but we just never get the opportunity for it — whether that’s for clients or trying to rebrand,” Cromartie told GLAAD’s Anthony Allen Ramos in a recent interview. “Being on the show, you’re able to use your wildest imagination to come up with stuff. I always wanted to see a male and accessory like that and I was just happy to be able to pull it off and the model looked really wild.”
Being in the finale is a big moment but it hasn’t really hit him until it aired. This time around, Cromratie said that he came into the competition not worrying about so much what will happen. “At the end of the day, whatever happens is gonna happen, whether I win or lose… I make the best out of it.”
Since appearing on season 17, Cromartie has a client list that includes Andra Day, Karrueche Tran, and Niecy Nash. That said, there are many other people he hopes to work with.
“Angelina Jolie, Beyoncé — I would love to do something with Lady Gaga,” he said. “I used to want to dress Amy Winehouse so bad. I don’t know why, but I just loved her vibe…I thought of a whole collection for her.” He also added Rihanna, Michelle Obama, and Oprah to his wish list, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it happened after the finale airs on 9 p.m ., September 7 on Bravo.
“It’s a pretty amazing to be in this in this place along with these beautiful ladies,” he said about being in the finale. “I’m thankful.”
“Project Runway All Stars” airs Thursdays at 9pm on Bravo.
