Today, August 14th, the nominees for the annual People’s Choice Country Music Awards were announced. Hosted by outspoken ally and country music icon Shania Twain, this is sure to be a night to remember.
Streaming on NBC and Peacock, live from the famous Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville on September 26th, this year’s People’s Choice Country Music Awards is among the most inclusive to date!
One of the GLAAD Media Award winning artists being celebrated at this year’s People’s Choice Country Awards is out country artist Orville Peck.
Peck is up for two awards including Cover of the Year for “Cowboys Are Frequently Secretly Fond of Each Other” performed with the legendary Willie Nelson, originally by Ned Sublette. Peck talked about this important collaboration with GLAAD’s Anthony Allen Ramos earlier this year. Read more here.
Peck is also up for Crossover Song of the Year for “Midnight Ride” with Kylie Minogue & Diplo.

Another out LGBTQ country artist being celebrated at this year’s ceremony is TJ Osborne of Brothers Osborne.
Brothers Osborne are up for the Group/Duo Song of the Year for “Break Mine” as well as Group/Duo of the year.

Leading the pack with the second most nominations this year is none other than Beyoncé. Beyoncé’s eighth studio album Cowboy Carter is up for 17 awards, including Album of the Year and Artist of the Year. Beyoncé collaborated with several LGBTQ artists and proud allies on the album including Miley Cyrus and Dolly Parton.
In 2019, Beyoncé and husband JAY-Z were honored at the 30th Annual GLAAD Media Awards with the Vanguard Award for their commitment to the LGBTQ community. Watch their acceptance speech below:
Also a GLAAD Vanguard Award honoree, Kacey Musgraves has 15 nominations at this year’s show. The devout LGBTQ ally’s sixth studio album Deeper Well has been met with critical acclaim, earning her nominations for Album of the Year and Artist of the Year, just to name a few.
On top of her own album being nominated, she is also being recognized for her collaboration with Zach Bryan on “I Remember Everything” and “Three Little Birds” from the film Bob Marley: One Love.
