Buckle up pop rock fans, G FLIP has arrived! On the heels of their hugely successful 12-track Sophomore album “Drummer,” the acclaimed singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist wants to take you on a “Dream Ride” as part of their latest album era, inspired by “Bruce Springsteen, late-night drives around Los Angeles, ‘80s reverb, and maximalist drums.”
G FLIP met up with GLAAD VP of Communications & Talent Anthony Allen Ramos to talk all things “Dream Ride,” including their wife/beloved Selling Sunset star Chrishell Stause‘s influence on the album, an easter egg love note to the trans community, and why the sax is so epic.
On discovering the concept for “Dream Ride,” G FLIP shares it was their last album that actually brought them here.
“I just went down this whole 80’s route when I was writing. My last album Drummer […] it was all about drums, and I wanted to put an an 80’s drum song on the last record, but realized it was its own world. Because the 80’s and how they recorded drums and their drum sizes, like the depth of their drums was really deep, and they’d gate their drums or they’d put huge verb on their drums, and it really was exciting for my little drum nerd brain.”
G FLIP originally had written “over 100” songs for the record, but with some help from co-writer/producer Aidan Hogg – whom G FLIP reunites with after partnering with Hogg on “Drummer” – they were able to whittle down the pile to ten exuberant hits. The final product? “Masculine pop. Because it’s not ‘pop girlie’ but it’s definitely my version of butch pop.”
G FLIP also credits one other special collaborator on “Dream Ride”: their wife Crishell. “Crishell is kind of the only person that kind of hears anything besides me and my co-producer. […] I really trust her ears. She helps inform what songs actually get on the record or not, because there’s some songs that she will literally be like, ‘You have to release this. This has to be on the record,’ or I’ll pay for it.”
The second track of “Dream Ride,” an epic stadium-chant worthy sax anthem titled “I Don’t Wanna Regret” makes a powerful nod to the trans community. In a crop of achievements G FLIP lists off in the first verse, “You’ve been a good husband, a good wife, a good friend,” they also mention “You came out trans [and] you can finally breathe.”
When asked to elaborate on this message, G FLIP does not mince words: “I have quite a large trans following that I love and adore, and I really wanted to acknowledge them. And, you know, it’s been tough times over the last few years and just forever for the trans community. I love highlighting them and their beauty and their, you know, courage and their strength. It felt important to put a line like that in the song.”
The intention behind the message goes beyond the recording. In fact, when making music, G FLIP shares “I always think about the live show when I write songs. I wanted to have a song that everyone in the audience, when it gets to the chorus, we’re all united and we can all sing and celebrate together.”
“Dream Ride” is available to stream now on Spotify, Apple Music and all major listening platforms. Tickets for the “Dream Ride Tour,” where you can catch G Flip in the US, UK, and Australia through March 14, 2026 are available now.
