Actress, writer, and trans activist Nicole Maines spills the tea on trans representation in the media in an all new episode of Logo’s Spill.
Hosted by Queer as Folk, Hacks, and Pose’s Johnny Sibilly, Spill is Logo’s new series “where the drinks are strong” and “the tea is hot.” Each episode, queer stars join Sibilly for a conversation and cocktails, where they talk about everything from their identities to messages they have for anti-LGBTQ politicians.
On this week’s episode, Supergirl and Yellowjacket’s Nicole Maines stopped by the bar. As someone who has brought such meaningful and authentic representation to millions, Maines has a lot to say on the importance of having trans people in the writer’s room.

“What is the special sauce that trans writers bring to the writer’s room?” Sibilly asks. “Experience,” she replies simply. “It is a story that has not really been told from our perspective.”
“Representation for queer people comes when we have those queer identities in the writer’s room,” she goes on to say. “It doesn’t happen when you have a room full of 12 people who are all from the exact same walk of life.”
