It’s a new month, which means new opportunities for queer TV! GLAAD is bringing you some highlights from LGBTQ TV premieres and returns throughout March. Check back on the first of each month for up-to-date coverage of LGBTQ-inclusive programming on television.
October 1:
Abbott Elementary (Season Five – ABC)
School’s back in session! The new season of ABC’s hit comedy Abbott Elementary is back for its fifth season. The comedy follows the teachers at a public school in Philadelphia, tyring to make the school work with limited resources. The ensemble of characters includes gay history teacher Jacob Hill. Abbot Elementary returns Wednesday, October 1st at 8:30pm on ABC and streaming the next day on Hulu.
October 9:
Boots (Season One – Netflix)
Based on a true story, Boots follows closeted Cameron (out actor Miles Heizer) as he joins the Marine Corps with his best friend, in the 90s when being gay in the military was illegal. Together, this ensemble navigates the literal and metaphorical landmines of boot camp, forging unlikely bonds and discovering their true selves in an environment designed to push them to their limits. Boots will release its whole first season on Thursday, October 9 on Netflix.
October 15:
Loot (Season Three – Apple TV+)
The third season of comedy Loot returns this month! Molly has landed the jet for season three, with viewers left on the edge of their seats following the season two finale that saw Wells and her trusted and somewhat assistant Nicholas (out actor Joel Kim Booster) board Molly’s private jet with her orders to take her as far away as possible after blowback from her fellow billionaires about stepping up philanthropy and her awkward exchange with her will-they, won’t-they colleague Arthur (Nat Faxon). Loot will be streaming on Apple TV+ on Wednesday, October 15.
October 16:
Ghosts (Season Five – CBS)
Season five of hit CBS comedy Ghosts returns on Thursday, October 16th. The show continues to follow couple Sam and Jay as they live in their bed and breakfast with a variety of ghosts that only Sam can see. This includes Isaac (Brandon Scott Jones), a gay revolutionary war veteran who died of dysentery and is embracing his sexuality in the afterlife. Ghosts returns Thursday, October 16th at 8:30pm on CBS.

October 29:
Hazbin Hotel (Season Two – Prime Video)
The second season of massively popular animated musicals series Hazbin Hotel premieres just in time for Halloween. In season two, following out protagonist Charlie’s victory against Heaven’s army, the Hotel is packed with new residents. Though, to Charlie’s dismay, many of her new guests seek revenge not redemption. Meanwhile, the Vees try to capitalize on Hell’s instability and use the growing tensions with Heaven to their own advantage. Stream season two of Hazbin Hotel on Wednesday, October 29 on Prime Video.
