May 2
Hacks (Season Three — Max)
The critically-acclaimed comedy Hacks returns to the small screen for a third season! The series centers on the dark mentorship between aging comedian Debroah Vance (Jean Smart) and up-and-coming bisexual writer Ava Daniels (bisexual actress Hannah Einbinder). A year after parting, Deborah Vance is riding high off the success of her standup special while Ava pursues new opportunities back in Los Angeles. The ensemble is stacked with queer talent, including Carl Clemons-Hopkins, Poppy Liu, Mark Indelicato, Meg Stalter, Johnny Sibily, Lorenza Izzo, and recently announced guest star Dan Buctinsky. Stream the first two episodes of Hacks season three on Max, with two new episodes dropping weekly until the season finale on May 30.

Mother of the Bride (Film — Netflix)
Netflix’s new rom-com Mother of the Bride, featuring gay actor Wilson Cruz, has arrived just in time for Mother’s Day! After a year abroad in London, Emma (Miranda Cosgrove) returns home and stuns her mother Lana (Brooke Shields) with the news that she’s getting married in a month at a resort in Phuket, Thailand. Things get worse when Lana discovers that the husband-to-be is the son of the man who broke her heart years earlier. Stream Mother of the Bride today.

Doctor Who (Season Fourteen — 7pm on Disney+)
The highly anticipated Ncuti Gatwa-led season of Doctor Who is here! This new iteration follows the Doctor (Gatwa) and his companion Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson) as they adventure from the Regency era in England all the way to war-torn future world in a time-traveling ship. Along the way, they encounter incredible friends and dangerous foes, including a terrifying bogeyman, and the Doctor’s most powerful enemy yet. With a jam packed LGBTQ cast—featuring trans actors Yasmin Finney and Peter MacHale—and gay screenwriter Russell T. Davies returning as showrunner for the first time since 2009, this season is gearing up to be the queerest one yet! Be sure to check out the 60th anniversary episode and watch the first two episodes of Doctor Who at 7pm ET on Disney+, with new episodes debuting weekly through June 22.
The Chi (Season Two, Part Two — Paramount+ with Showtime)
Created and executive produced by lesbian Emmy-winner Lena Waithe, The Chi is a timely coming-of-age story centering a group of residents in Chicago’s South Side who become linked by coincidence but bonded by the need for connection and redemption. This season, life in The Chi reverberates between the highest highs and the lowest lows, following fan-favorite couple Nina (Tyla Abercrumbie) and Dre (Miriam A. Hyman), trans journalist Fatima (L’lerrét Jazelle), and the newest additions to the ensemble, Deondray (Jabari Redd) and Quincy (Thomas Mackie). The show’s first-ever principal gay male characters, Quincy is a campaign manager who is helping Victor “Trig” Taylor (Luke James) run for office, and Deondray is a highly esteemed and educated real estate broker. Watch the second half of the sixth season on Paramount+ with Showtime before its on-air debut May 12 at 9pm ET on Showtime.

Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire (Season Two — 9pm on AMC or AMC+)
Welcome back to the Immortal Universe! A contemporary reinvention of Anne Rice’s novel, Interview with the Vampire follows Louis’s epic story of life, blood and the perils of immortality, as told to the journalist Daniel Molloy. Chafing at the limitations of life as a Black man in 1900’s New Orleans, Louis finds it impossible to resist charismatic Lestat’s offer of the ultimate escape: joining him as his vampire companion. The new season picks up in the year 2022 after the bloody events in New Orleans in 1940 when Louis and teen vampire Claudia tried to kill Lestat. Here, Louis and Armand’s love affair proves to have devastating consequences both in the past and in the future. Tune in to the season premiere at 9pm ET on AMC or AMC+.
