It’s a new month, which means new opportunities for queer TV! GLAAD is bringing you some highlights from LGBTQ TV premieres and returns throughout April. Check back on the first of each month for up-to-date coverage of LGBTQ-inclusive programming on television.
April 4
Star Trek: Discovery (Season Five — Paramount+)
GLAAD Media Award-winning sci-fi series Star Trek: Discovery is taking off for its final run! The new season continues to follow Captain Burnham and the crew of U.S.S Discovery–including gay couple Paul Stamets (queer actor Anthony Rapp) and Hugh Culber (gay actor Wilson Cruz), nonbinary human Adira Tal (nonbinary actor Blu del Barrio), and lesbian engineer Jett Reno (lesbian comedian Tig Notaro)–who uncover a mystery that sends them on an epic adventure across the galaxy. Stream the first two episodes of the fifth season on Paramount+, with new episodes dropping weekly on Thursdays!
April 5
Mary & George (Season One — Starz)
The queer British period drama Mary & George is based on the 2017 non-fiction novel The King’s Assassin, which chronicles the torrid affair between James VI and I and George Villiers, 1st Duke of Buckingham. In the miniseries, The Countess of Buckingham Mary Villiers (Julianne Moore) molds her beautiful and charismatic son George (Nicholas Galitzine) to seduce King James and amass immense riches, titles and influence. Prepared to stop at nothing and armed with ruthless political steel, Mary marries her way up the ranks, bribes politicians, colludes with criminals and claws her way into the hearts of the establishment, making it her own. Watch the first episode of the psychodrama at 9pm ET on Starz.

Chucky (Season Three, Part Two — USA Network / Syfy)
In Chucky’s unending thirst for power, season three of Chucky sees the titular doll ensconced with the most powerful family in the world — America’s First Family, inside the infamous walls of the White House. How did Chucky end up here? And how can fan-favorite gay couple Jake and Devon possibly get to Chucky inside the world’s most secure house, all while balancing the pressures of romantic relationships and growing up? Answer these questions and more in the second half of the third season of the GLAAD Media Award-nominated series, premiering at 10 pm ET on Syfy, USA Network and the following day on Peacock!

Heartbreak High (Season Two — Netflix)
Welcome to Term Two at Hartley High! The International Emmy Award-winning Australian reboot Heartbreak High follows a diverse group of teens, including queer and non-binary student Darren Rivers (non-binary actor James Majoos), lesbian and autistic student Quinni Gallagher-Jones (neurodivergent advocate and Tik Tok star Chloe Hayden), asexual student Douglas “Ca$h” Piggott (Will McDonald), and more. In the sophomore season, fresh faces, a new sports teacher, a mystery assailant, and a race for school captain throw any hopes of a peaceful term into disarray. Stream the new season on Netflix!
April 26
We’re Here (Season Four — HBO)
The critically acclaimed docuseries We’re Here is returning with all new hosts: renowned drag queens Sasha Velour, Priyanka, Jaida Essence Hall, and Latrice Royale! The fourth season continues the show’s mission of spreading love and connection through the art of drag across small-town America. The queens work with participants in Murfreesboro, Tennessee and Tulsa, Oklahoma, as well as in surrounding towns, and take an in-depth, immersive look at recent anti-LGBTQ legislation, and the effects it has had on the community. Watch the GLAAD Media Award-winning series’ premiere at 9 pm on HBO and Max, with new episodes debuting weekly, and stay tuned for the official trailer!
