Alex Schmider, GLAAD’s Associate Director of Transgender Representation, caught up with director MJ Bassett (before she flew to Kenya to shoot her next film) to talk about the making of Lionsgate’s ROGUE, the environmental message behind the Megan Fox feature, the making of the movie as a family collaboration, and reflections on how her experience directing has and hasn’t changed since she transitioned in 2017.
In a personal essay Bassett wrote on Talkhouse, she shares more about her journey coming out as transgender and the second act of her life she’s writing now.
Bassett whose prolific filmmaking career includes films like Inside Man: Most Wanted (2019), Silent Hill: Revelation (2012), Solomon Kane (2009), and Deathwatch (2002) now adds ROGUE (2020) to her credits.
ROGUE is available on Demand and Digital August 28th and on DVD and Blu-ray September 1st.
