LGBTQ country fans, get excited! There’s a new artist in town who’s bringing queer representation to the genre. Brian Fadulto is country’s next big thing!
On the heels of his debut studio album Gay Country, Fadulto is back with his own spin on a classic. “Why’d You Come Here Lookin’ Like That,” is one of Dolly Parton‘s greatest hits, and Fadulto is giving it a new life!
“In deciding over what song I wanted to record a cover of, I was torn between a few artists I’m inspired by and the deciding factor ended up being Dolly’s legacy,” Fadulto said in a statement. “I’m a huge fan of hers and everything she stands for. I’m also in awe of the way she’s carried herself throughout her career, specifically her consistent support of the LGBTQ+ community as that means a lot in a genre where that can be hard to come by.”

“I wanted to be really intentional with how we went about this cover because I wanted to honor the energy she puts out both in her music and as a person who we’ve all grown to know and love – and I think we did that,” he went on to say.
“The production style we went with is actually very much inspired by Cam’s song “Diane”, which is similar to “Why’d You Come In Here Lookin’ Like That” tonally. I’d say this version marries the two by putting that modern spin on this country classic.”
