Spirit Day happens every year. It’s an annual LGBTQ awareness day observed on the third Thursday in October. Spirit Day was initially created in response to widely publicized bullying-related suicides of gay students in 2010 – like Tyler Clementi and too many more – by teenager Brittany McMillan. Every year GLAAD uplifts the day by encouraging millions of people to join together to wear purple in solidarity with anti-bullying of LGBTQ+ youth. This year you can wear purple with thousands, together, in person for this special West Coast event where healing, joy and perseverance find a place with live music.
GLAAD hopes to see you there and take action with many by making sure you’re #GoodToVote!
