On Wednesday, March 29th, 2023 at the Grandmaster Recorders in Hollywood, California, GLAAD’s Communities of Color and Media Department hosted its 2nd annual #GLAADHonors Soirée ahead of the GLAAD Media Awards to celebrate Black, LGBTQ+ efforts and contributions to the culture and community.
The collection of Black LGBTQ+ talent that filled the room, who make up some of the best in media and entertainment, included Artist/Creative Director Victor Jackson, TV Personality TS Madison, Actors Nicco Annan and Jerrie Johnson, New York Times best-selling author George M. Johnson, history-making rapper Kidd Kenn, Film Producer Philip Johnson, Actor/Director Jussie Smollet, Event Producer Brandon Anthony, Musical Artists Durand Bernarr and JeRonelle, Actors Brandon Black, Bernard David Jones, Philemon Chambers, James Bland, Elijah Boothe, Devere Rogers, Zachary Campbell, and Alexandra Grey, Media Personality Terrell Grice, and Models/Actors Isis King and Laith Ashley, amongst others.
The event was kicked off with a red carpet with shots taken by revered photographer Davide Laffe. Attendees enjoyed cocktails, bites, and headshots by photographer/community organizer LaQuann Dawson.
During the evening, TS Madison humorously took to the mic to thank all of the attendees for supporting GLAAD, encouraged everyone to continue being their authentic selves, and honored GLAAD’s Communities of Color Director DaShawn Usher and Associate Director Julian J. Walker.
The star-studded event was featured in The Hollywood Reporter, Blex Media, and Gaye Magazine.
