The music industry braved the rain from the “atmospheric river” in Los Angeles to celebrate the 66th Annual Grammy Awards to recognize outstanding achievements in the music.
As with every awards ceremony, there were a myriad of highlights. Taylor Swift won the Grammy for Best Album of the Year for Midnights. This marks her fourth in the category, the most for any artist in Grammy history. When Jay-Z took the stage to accept the Dr. Dre. Global Impact Award, he called out the recording academy’s snubs of Black artists over the year. Naturally, he included wife Beyoncé in the bunch. The RENAISSANCE artist is the winningest artist in Grammy history with 32 trophies, yet still has not won for Album of the Year. In addition, Fantasia brought the house down with a Tina Turner “Proud Mary” tribute and Celine Dion made an appearance to present the album of the year.
It was a huge night of wins and moments for women — including queer women.
R&B chanteuse Victoria Monét won three of the seven Grammys she was nominated for including Best New Artist. Clad in Margiela and later Bob Mackie, Miley Cyrus was living her best Cher life, winning two awards including Record of the Year for “Flowers.”

Brandy Clark and Brandi Carlile won Best Americana Performance. Carlile would later join music icon Joni Mitchell for one of many memorable performances of the night.

Meanwhile, Billie Eilish continued to hold the Barbie banner high, taking home two Grammys including Song of the Year for “What Was I Made For?”.

LGBTQ representation was also present with BoyGenius taking home the trophy for two awards including Best Rock Performance. Group member Phoebe Bridgers added another Grammy when she and SZA scored Best Pop Duo Performance. In addition, Allison Russell won for Best American Roots Performance while Carla Patullo won for Best New Age, Ambient or Chant Album.
In one of the most memorable moments of the night, legend Tracy Chapman made a surprise appearance to perform her classic hit “Fast Car” with country singer Luke Combs. The audience gave her an incredible ovation after she performed.
Gigi Gorgeous and GLAAD’s Anthony Allen Ramos were also on the Grammys red carpet to catch up with some of favorite artists — including Kylie Minogue, who won for Best Pop Dance Recording for “Padam Padam”. this marks Minogue’s second Grammy after two decades. Her first win was for “Come Into My World”, which won for Best Dance Recording.

They also caught up with Jessica Betts and Niecy Nash-Betts as well as Janet Robin, a member of The String Evolution which won the Grammy for Best Instrumental Album.
