The GLAAD Wrap: Trailers for ‘Mayor Pete’ and ‘Tampa Baes’, new seasons of ‘Doom Patrol’ and ABC’s ‘Singalong’, music by Elton John, Remi Wolf, Ladyhawke and more!

Every week, The GLAAD Wrap brings you LGBTQ-related entertainment news highlights, fresh stuff to watch out for, and fun diversions to help you kick off the weekend.

1) Amazon Prime has released a trailer for their original documentary Mayor Pete, set to premiere November 12, 2021. The film chronicles Pete Buttigeg’s campaign to be the first openly gay U.S. president. Watch the trailer below! 

2) Out Dancing with the Stars star Jojo Siwa has announced a new reality competition Siwa Dance Pop Revolution, premiering Thursday, November 4, on Peacock. The eight episode series will follow 11 young competitors as they compete to earn a spot in Siwa’s newest opening act pop group. In other reality TV news, Amazon has released a trailer for  their new unscripted series Tampa Baes, out Friday, November 5. The show will document a young group of lesbian friends in Tampa Bay. 3) The superhero drama series Doom Patrol has been renewed by HBO Max for a fourth season. The Doom Patrol misfits include queer characters Larry Trainer, otherwise known as The Negative Man (out actor Matt Bomer) and Clara Steele (Bethany Anne Lind).

4) The Scream Queens duo, actress and writer Jamie Lee Curtis and out director and producer Ryan Murphy, are teaming up for a new Netflix limited series tentatively titled Outfielder. The series will follow Los Angeles Dodger Glenn Burke, who delivered the first recorded high five on October 2, 1977. Burke was also the first MLB player to publicly come out as gay to his teammates and team owners during his professional career. 

5) ABC has announced The Queen Family Singalong, the fourth installment of its successful Singalong franchise, airing Thursday, November 4 at 8pm. The special will feature an hour of Queen hits, performed by out singers Adam Lambert, Jojo Siwa, Pentatonix and more. 

6) Mark Gordon Pictures has announced the cast for their anthology series Girls Can’t Shoot (& Other Lies), based on the international bestselling essay collection “Feminists Don’t Wear Pink (& Other Lies)”. The series will feature out Funny Girl actor Beanie Feldstein, Pose star MJ Rodriguez, and queer The Good Place star Jameela Jamil. The first season will explore the expectations of women in storytelling by placing heroines at the center of traditionally male genres. 

7) Elton John today released his new album The Lockdown Sessions today. Out artists Miley Cyrus, Years & Years, Brandi Carlile and Lil Nas X all make appearances. The Lockdown Sessions is available now, find your preferred listening platform here. Out singer, songwriter and American Idol star Remi Wolf announced the release of her new album Juno. 8) Up-and-coming non-binary icon PLEXXAGLASS has announced the release of their debut album WHERE IS YOUR GOD, KNOWING WHAT YOU KNOW NOW?, out October 28. Pre-save the ethereal pop album here! In other music news, queer artist Ladyhawke has released a new single “Time Flys”, the title track for her upcoming album, out November 19. 9) The Sundance Institute has announced six creatives as their fellows for its inaugural Trans Possibilities Intensive, focused on advancing the careers of trangender storytellers of color. The artists include out actress, producer and filmmaker Ava Davis (The Waltz); out award-winning documentary filmmaker, actor, and musician StormMiguel Florez (Welcome to Roswell); out GLAAD award-winning actor, model, and intersex rights activist River Gallo (Ponyboi); out screenwriter and Nicholl Quarterfinalist Carol Grant (Eurydice V); out storyseller Mitchell “MiSha” Owens (The Boy from Across Town); and out writer and story editor Savannah Ward (Meta). The three day virtual event kicks off on October 18, 2021!

10) SERV Vodka, created by six of the world’s most iconic and influential drag queens, has announced it’s first-ever virtual cocktail party SERV Happy Hour. Out hosts Alaska 5000 and Monet X Change will share how they became successful vodka entrepreneurs. The event is free to watch here on Monday, October 25 at 8pm! Also, SERV will launch their first-ever SERV Kiki event at LA’s LGBTQ party, Sugartank, hosted by RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 12 Fan Favorite Gigi Goode, on Saturday, November 6.
