1) A teaser for Thor: Love and Thunder has dropped. The Asgard native’s (Chris Hemsworth) retirement and quest for inner peace is cut short when Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale) comes to power, ready to wipe out all gods. He enlists the help of King Valkyrie (out actress Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi), and his ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) who now wields the hammer Mjolnir as the Mighty Thor, and they adventure through the galaxy to stop Gorr from wreaking vengeance before it’s too late.
2) Megan Suri and Parminder Nagra will star in an LGBTQ film adaptation of Sara Jo Cluff’s book The Kiss List. After her boyfriend Dylan dumps her and spreads a rumor that she’s a bad kisser, high school student Camille Collins devises a kiss list with the hottest guys in school to prove him wrong. However, after grappling with the sudden hate on social media and from her softball teammates, as well as a distant mom, she begins to wonder if the kiss list was a form of social suicide. The movie will expand the plot to show characters wrestling with their sexual identities along with friend and familial relationships.

3) Out actors Alan Cumming and Charlyne Yi will join the voice cast for upcoming Netflix animation pic My Father’s Dragon. After moving to the city with his mother, Elmer struggles to cope and runs away to the mysterious Wild Island, where he finds ferocious beasts, a dragon waiting to be rescued, and the friendship of a lifetime. In more casting news, out actor Scott Evans will join the cast for the upcoming Barbie movie, with plot details under wrap.

4) A trailer is out for documentary Building a Bridge, based on Father James Martin’s book Building a Bridge: How the Catholic Church and the LGBT Community Can Enter Into a Relationship of Respect, Compassion, and Sensitivity. The documentary follows his call to action for the Catholic Church to accept the LGBTQ community, and his speaking tours have often been met with protests from conservative Catholic groups.
5) The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder has been renewed for a second season. The continuation of the lauded series from the early aughts follows the hilarious escapades of Penny Proud, now 14 and beginning high school, and her Proud Family. Out actors Zachary Quinto and Billy Porter voice interracial husbands Barry and Randall Leibowitz-Jenkins, respectively, and out actor EJ Johnson voices Penny’s gender-nonconforming friend Michael Collins.

6) Big Mouth has been renewed for season seven, and its sixth season will premiere later this year. Big Mouth follows a group of middle school friends dealing with how puberty is changing their bodies and lives, and the hormone monsters that represent their tumultuous adolescent emotions. The show features several LGBTQ characters, including middle schoolers Jay (Jason Mantzoukas), Matthew (Andrew Rannells), Ali (Ali Wong), and more. Additionally, Big Mouth spinoff Human Resources has been renewed for a second season. The series centers on Big Mouth’s hormone monsters Maury (Nick Kroll) and Connie (Maya Rudolph) in their workplace, where they are assigned to represent the intense emotions of various people. Several LGBTQ characters, including trans middle schooler Natalie (Josie Totah), feature in the show.

7) Showtime has announced the production of Fellow Travelers, starring out actor Matt Bomer and created by out screenwriter Ron Nyswaner. The eight-part limited series is based on out author Thomas Mallon’s novel of the same name and chronicles the relationship between two very different men: a behind-the-scenes politician named Hawkins (Bomer) and an idealistic and religious young man named Tim. The pair begin a romance just as Joseph McCarthy and Roy Cohn declare war on “subversives and sexual deviants.” Over the course of four decades, Hawk and Tim encounter the Vietnam War protests of the 1960’s, the disco hedonism of the 1970’s, and the HIV/AIDS crisis of the 1980’s.
