Every week, The GLAAD Wrap brings you LGBTQ-related entertainment news highlights, fresh stuff to watch out for, and fun diversions to help you kick off the weekend.
1) Out actors Nico Tortorella, Juan Pablo Di Pace, Carl Clemons-Hopkins, Emily Hampshire, Jake Choi and Heather Matarazzo have signed on to star in The Mattachine Family. The film will focus on the relationship between Thomas (Tortorella) and Oscar (Pablo Di Pace). After one of their foster children returns to his birth mother, the pair realize that they have very different ideas about what it means to be a family. Out producer and writer Andy Vallentine will direct the film with a script written by his husband, Danny Vallentine.
2) Out director and writer Oliver Hermanus has announced an upcoming gay romance film entitled The History of Sound, starring Emmy Award-winning actor Josh O’Connor and BAFTA Award-winning actor Paul Mescal. The film is based on author Ben Shattuck’s story of the same name and will follow two young men as they record their lives, voices, and music during World War One.
3) Out Arrow actor Colton Haynes and out Broadway’s Hamilton actor Javier Muñoz have signed on to star in the indie comedy Love… Reconsidered. The film will follow Ruby (Sophie Von Haselberg), a 30-year-old New Yorker whose life is suddenly transplanted into the Hamptons after a chance meeting with a wealthy consignment store owner.

4) The HBO Max comedy series Search Party has announced seven new stars for it’s Season 5 cast, including out actors Grace Kuhlenschmidt, Joe Castle Baker, Larry Owens and Michelle Badillo. The series is directed by out screenwriter and producer Charles Rogers and has featured numerous queer characters and actors including John Early, Jeffery Self, Alia Shawat and Cole Escola.
5) Peacock’s hit comedy Saved by the Bell, starring out actress Josie Totah as Lexie, has released their official trailer for Season 2. In the season, Bayside High gears up to compete in the Southern California School Spirit Competition and Lexie struggles to become a more understanding girlfriend. 6) ABC has announced the development of Chopped & Screwed, a multi-camera sitcom, starring out The Amber Ruffin Show writer Dewayne Perkins and 2 Dope Queens co-creator Phoebe Robinson. The series centers a Black barbershop and beauty salon that must come together as one to continue serving the needs of their customers and community.

7) Out TikTok stars Robert Reeves, Mick Peterson, Bill Lyons and Jessay Martin have announced an upcoming docuseries with Brian Graden Media. The series will explore the “Old Gays” professional social media lives while living together in Cathedral City, California.

8) This week Tony Bennett and out singer-songwriter and actress Lady Gaga premiered the music video for their duet “Night and Day”. 9) Queer Love, Simon star Keiynan Lonsdale has released the official music video for his single “Gods Of The Disco”. Check out the 1970’s inspired music video here. 10) The original cast of the Tony Award-winning musical Spring Awakening will reunite for a special, one-night benefit concert, directed by out filmmaker and playwright Michael Mayer. Spring Awakening tells the story of teenage self-discovery and budding sexuality as seen through the eyes of three teenagers. The 15th Anniversary Reunion Concert Benefit will take place on November 15, at the Imperial Theatre in New York City, and benefit the Actors Fund. Purchase your tickets here!
