1) Out actor and filmmaker Billy Porter will direct upcoming queer teen film I’ll Have Another from Gabrielle Union and Amazon Studios. The film follows three queer friends who escape their hometown for one weekend to go to New York for Pride. In more film news, out actor Tyler Alvarez has joined the cast of the still untitled queer teen romance film from Hulu. The film stars Rowan Blanchard and Auli’i Cravalho as two girls on the track team who end up falling for each other.

2) Netflix has announced that there will be a sequel to the GLAAD Media Award-nominated action film The Old Guard, to be directed by Victoria Mahoney The first film featured couple Joe and Nicky who had been together for centuries, and both actors will be returning. Documentary short Coded: The Hidden Love of J.C. Leyendecker has been acquired by MTV Documentary Films. The film, from out director Ryan White, follows J.C. Leyendecker, a gay illustrator from the early 20th century whose gay-coded work has been largely forgotten by history.

3) Motherland: Fort Salem, whose season two finale aired this week, has been renewed for a third and final season by Freeform. The show, which follows an alternative world where the military is dominated by witches, features queer couple Raelle and Scylla in its main cast. RuPaul’s Drag Race has been renewed for a 14th season, along with companion series RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked and RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race. All series will air on VH1.

4) Out performer Jojo Siwa will be on this 30th season of Dancing With the Stars. She will be the first contestant in the shows history to dance with someone of the same gender. The new season will premiere September 20. Out musician and composer Devonté Hynes has joined Issa Rae’s new comedy Rap Sh*t to compose the score. The HBO Max show follows estranged high school friends who form a rap group.

5) Out singer Halsey released their latest album If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power today. She released an IMAX film along with the album. Tickets for the film can be found here, and you can listen to the album here.
6) Out GLAAD Media Award-winning rapper and singer Lil Nas X announced that he will release a debut full length album. Entitled Montero, the album will drop on September 17. Troye Sivan has also announced that he will release new music on September 10, a single called “Angel Baby.”

8) Singer and trans woman Mila Jam released a new single and music video “It’s Raining Them” last week. Check out the video below! 10) Out singer Courtney Barnett released a cover of The Velvet Underground’s I’ll Be Your Mirror, a track off of the upcoming tribute album to The Velvet Underground of the same name.
