The GLAAD Wrap: Cara Delevingne starring in ‘The Climb’, ‘Euphoria’ and ‘Love, Victor’ renewed, new music from Orville Peck, and more!

Every week, The GLAAD Wrap brings you LGBTQ-related entertainment news highlights, fresh stuff to watch out for, and fun diversions to help you kick off the weekend.

1) Out model, actress, and singer Cara Delevingne has been set to star in the forthcoming eco-action thriller The Climb. Based on true events, the film tells the story of a Greenpeace-led protest action against Shell’s plans to drill in the Arctic, when female activists scale the tallest building in Europe, London’s Shard. Delevingne will play one of the leads as the daredevilish-climber who is the head and heart of the venture. 

2) The cast for the upcoming film National Anthem has been announced, in which out musician Halsey will make her acting debut. The film revolves around a gritty hunt for a valuable rare Lakota Native American Ghost Shirt. Some are hunting for fortune, others for personal freedom, while others simply want to return it properly to its home. No longer will the marginalized be ignored — all must learn to survive or else.

3) Non-binary actor Quintessa Swindell will join the cast of the forthcoming film Master Gardener. Swindell will play Maya, the wayward and troubled great-niece of Mrs Haverhill (Sigourney Weaver), who is taken on as a new apprentice by the titular gardener Narvel Roth (Joel Edgerton). In other casting news, out actors Jojo T. Gibbs and Javicia Leslie will star in the rom-com Something From Tiffany’s, based on Melissa Hill’s novel of the same name. In Something from Tiffany’s, a woman’s life is upended when an engagement ring meant for someone else leads her to the person she’s meant to be with.

4) Emmy-winning drama series Euphoria has been renewed for a third season. In season two, Zendaya returns as Rue, who’s relapsed since Jules (trans actress Hunter Schafer) left her for the city. With school back in session, Rue faces new obstacles to her sobriety and her relationship with Jules. Additionally, The L Word: Generation Q has been renewed for a third season. The series follows the intermingled lives of Bette Porter (Jennifer Beals), Alice Pieszecki (out actress Leisha Hailey), Shane McCutcheon (out actress Katherine Moennig), Dani Nùñez (out actress Arienne Mandi), Micah Lee (out trans actor Leo Sheng), Finley (out actress Jacqueline Toboni), Sophie Suarez (Rosanny Zayas), Gigi Ghorbani (Sepideh Moafi), and Angie Porter-Kennard (Jordan Hull) as they experience love, heartbreak, sex, setbacks and success in L.A.

5) The third and final season of Love, Victor has been announced on the show’s social media and will drop June 15 on Hulu. This season finds Victor (Michael Cimino) going on a journey of self-discovery — not only deciding who he wants to be with, but more broadly, who he wants to be. With their post-high-school-plans looming, Victor and his friends are faced with a new set of problems that they must work through to make the best choices for their futures.

6) Freeform has announced the return of Good Trouble for a fourth season, set to premiere March 9 (next day on Hulu). The Fosters spin–off series follows the residents of Downtown Los Angeles’ The Coterie, including bisexual graphic designer and artist Gael Martinez (Tommy Martinez), and lesbian comedian Alice Kwan (out actress Sherry Cola) as they juggle career, love and the 20-something growing pains at a time in your life where your friends are your family.

7) Hulu has released a teaser for the upcoming original limited series Conversations With Friends, based on Sally Rooney’s best-selling novel. The show follows Frances (Alison Oliver), a vulnerable college student living in Dublin, who is best friends with her ex-girlfriend Bobbi (out actress Sasha Lane). At a spoken word poetry event, the two meet Melissa (Jemima Kirke), a writer, and her husband Nick (Joe Alwyn), an actor. While Melissa and Bobbi develop an intense flirtation, Frances embarks on an affair with Nick that threatens to destroy her friendship with Bobbi. Watch the teaser below!

8) Bisexual writer and professor Roxane Gay will pen the television adaptation of graphic novel The Banks. The Banks focuses on the women of the Banks family who are the most successful thieves in Chicago. During the heist of a lifetime, they must band together to avenge a loved one taken too soon.

9) Out country singer Orville Peck will release his upcoming album Bronco April 8, and the four songs from “Chapter 1” are out now (stream here)! Additionally, queer electronic pop artist Chad Post has released a new single “If I Was God”, off his upcoming third album, out June 9, 2022 (stream it here)! In other music news, NYC non-binary singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Miles Frances’s single and music video “Nature” off their upcoming March 4 album Good Man is out now – watch it below!

10) Golden Boys, Phil Stamper’s book about a group of best friends consisting of four LGBTQ teenage boys who each go on their own adventures the summer before their senior year of high school, is out now! Stamper was inspired by the “classic contemporary YA” of his own teen years and wanted to write a book that was similar to classic narratives about young people but centered queer characters. In other news, out actresses Beanie Feldstein and Jane Lynch will star in Broadway’s upcoming revival of Funny Girl.
