GLAAD Hangouts with Tony Morrison and Donja R. Love — 12/13/24 – Join Tony Morrison and Donja R. Love as Donja shares their experiences living and thriving with HIV, founding Write It Out! (WIO!), and their work amplifying the voices of Black Queer communities. They’ll also discuss Donja’s activism, including their impactful workshops with the International AIDS Society and the HIV is Not a Crime Conference, as well as their role as co-founder of The Each-Other Project, a platform celebrating Black Queer and Trans communities.

GLAAD Hangouts with Damon Epps, Tony Jarmin and Kenneth Walden — 11/4/24 – Damon Epps, Tony Jarmin and Kenneth Walden discuss what’s at stake this election Eve. Damon and Tony are also the hosts of the Surface Level Podcast (@surfacelevelpodcast), where they delve into the complexities of the Black and Queer experience through personal stories and thought-provoking conversations that challenge societal norms around identity, race, and sexuality.

GLAAD Hangouts with Moi Santos and Emma Robbins Monday, November 4th to celebrate Native American Heritage Month — 11/4/24 – Moi Santos, Manager of Sundance Institute’s Equity, Impact, and Belonging Program, and special guest Emma Robbins, a powerful advocate for Indigenous rights. Emma serves as the Executive Director of The Chapter House, an organization dedicated to empowering Indigenous women and communities, and is the Managing Director of Planet Women, where she champions femme-led conservation efforts. In honor of Native American Heritage Month, they’ll engage in a compelling conversation celebrating Emma’s transformative work and dedication to Indigenous empowerment.

GLAAD Hangout with Shar Jossell and Siaira Shawn Oct 29, 2024. — 10/29/24 – Shar and Siaira dive into Siaira’s journey as an independent artist, her advocacy work, and her latest e.p., “Ephemera”, which beautifully captures the stages of love in a cinematic and evocative soundscape. Siaira will also share how her song “Wrong Speed” made its way onto HBO’s Insecure and discuss her passion for empowering fellow artists through her work with nonprofit label Over Everything. GLAAD Hangouts with Kyle Price and Kemar Jewel on Oct 22, 2024 — 10/22/24 – Kyle and Kemar dive into Kemar’s groundbreaking work in the ballroom scene and the ongoing influence of voguing in elevating Black queer voices. They’ll also discuss his heartfelt project honoring the life of O’Shae Sibley, who was tragically taken from us last year. This year would have marked O’Shae’s 30th birthday, and in his memory, Kemar completed a project they started together to celebrate his legacy.

Darrel Alejandro Holnes - Did You Know — 10/11/24 – Darrel Alejandro Holnes work has graced the pages of the American Poetry Review, Poetry Magazine, Callaloo, Best American Experimental Writing, and more. A recipient of prestigious honors like the C.P. Cavafy Poetry Prize, he has also been awarded grants and fellowships from the Bread Loaf Writers Conference, Canto Mundo, MacDowell Colony, and the Cave Canem Foundation.

GLAAD Hangout with Joniel R Pacheco Munoz - Did You Know — 10/3/24 – Meet Joniel, activist, and co-founder of Unión Negra Antirracista (UNA UPRRP @unauprr, the first Black student organization at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus.In this episode, Joniel sheds light on a pivotal law passed in Puerto Rico that prohibits discrimination against Afro-Puerto Ricans who choose to wear their natural hair and hairstyles. He also explores how Black Puerto Ricans have shaped the very foundation of Puerto Rican identity, while still facing some of the harshest discrimination on the island.

Dre reminds us that everyone deserves the freedom to pursue their dreams and passions, and to provide for themselves. Disability Pride Month with Dre Hollingsworth, deaf activist and actor on The Chi — 7/19/24 – In honor of Disability Pride Month, Dre is exploring some common misconceptions about the deaf community. She also…whether you’re part of the deaf/HOH community or not. Join Dre in celebrating and exploring disability through an intersectional lens.

GLAAD Hangout with Kyle Price and Nicco Annan — 7/18/24 – Tune in as Kyle and Nicco discuss Nicco’s journey to the screen after making his mark in the off-Broadway and regional theatre communities, his role starring in Katori Hall’s critically acclaimed drama series, “P-VALLEY,” on STARZ, and how Annan’s role in the show defies traditional gender limitations while bringing dignity, danger, and grace central to Uncle Clifford’s common humanity. They’ll also discuss STARZ’s new “DOWN IN THE VALLEY,” a docuseries, hosted and executive produced by Nicco, that explores the real life stories and rich and complex culture of the deep South.

Hangout with Kristian Fanene Schmidt and Reggie Keone Gravely — 6/25/24 – Tune in as Krit and Reggie discuss Reggie’s community organizing work (which they began in rural North Carolina as a college student), experience serving as the Director of Programming at Solutions Not Punishment Collaborative (a Black trans and Queer led organization fighting for change in Atlanta), and his passion for organizing BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities around issues that directly impact marginalized individuals.

GLAAD Hangouts with Kyle Price and Ricky Irving Jr. — 6/13/24 – Tune in as Kyle and Ricky discuss his roles and involvement in producing interviews, celebrity profiles, and in-depth reporting focused on important stories. They’ll also discuss Ricky’s first Emmy Award, which he earned in 2022, and his experience being honored with a National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) Salute to Excellence Award.

Hangout with award-winning journalist, media personality, and host Shar Jossell and special guest KB Brookins — 6/11/24 – Tune in as Shar and KB discuss KB’s previous written and artistic work, which includes “Freedom House,” “How to Identify Yourself with a Wound,” and various published poems, essays, and installation art. They’ll also discuss the numerous fellowships KB has earned from the National Endowment for the Arts, PEN America, and Equality Texas, among others, their recently released debut memoir “Pretty,” and the “Pretty” book tour.

Hangout with Damon Epps, Jordan Randall, and Tony Jermin AKA Surface Level Podcast — 6/10/24 – Damon, Jordan, and Tony discuss the launch of “VOICES: Stay Proud, a campaign celebrating diverse Black and Brown LGBTQ+ voices in podcasting. Curated by Surface Level, the campaign features a collection of platforms representing a multitude of ethnicities, sexualities, gender identities, and ages. Highlighting the beauty of the human experience in all its variations, the campaign aims to showcase the unifying power of storytelling. Tune in as the group discusses the inspiration behind the campaign and the need for diverse representation in podcasting and media.

MOBIFest is a vibrant, community-focused, and interactive wellness experience celebrating Black queer voices in fashion, music, visual arts, and media. GLAAD Hangouts with 2AM Ricky and Tami LaTrell — 5/15/24 – Tune in as 2AM Ricky and Tami talk about Tami’s company, The Mezzo Agency (@themezzoagency), which works to serve the music community, her many career accomplishments including being recognized as one of the “Top 20 African American Entrepreneurs To Watch” in the Chicago Tribune. They’ll also discuss the importance of mental health advocacy in the music industry, particularly within the Black community, and how uplifting marginalized communities and amplifying LGBTQ+ advocacy in media are integral aspects of fostering inclusivity and representation.

GLAAD Hangouts with Kristian Fanene Schmidt and Vaelupe Ma'aele — 5/14/24 – Tune in as Krit and Vaelupe discuss how Vaelupe co-creates safe spaces for queer BIPOC aligned and Pacific Islanders to begin their mental health journey, her specialization in helping folx grow through relationships, anxiety, and cultural expectations, and her passion for helping folx align with their most authentic selves through individual therapy, community workshops, and speaking engagements with her perspective expertise.

GLAAD Hangout with Shar Jossell and Franco Stevens — 4/25/24 – Tune in as Shar and Franco discuss Franco’s career trajectory, from her groundbreaking work in queer media to her service on the board of directors for GLAAD. They also discuss the importance of Lesbian Visibility Week and the release of AHEAD OF THE CURVE, the documentary about the iconic magazine streaming on Netflix now. Additionally, they talk about Franco’s roles as a founding board member of the San Francisco LGBT Center and as co-founder of The Curve Foundation.

Learn about her groundbreaking initiative, Trans Asylias, dedicated to providing asylum and protection to persecuted individuals, and her recent recognition by the BBC as one of the inspiring and influential 100 Women from around the world in 2021.

Hangouts with Eshe Ukweli and Jay Jones — 3/21/24 – Tune in as Eshe and Jay discuss Jay’s current role serving as the Vice President of the Howard University Student Association, the first trans woman to ever hold the position. They’ll also discuss how Jay has been a champion for trans representation in leadership and LGBTQ+ policies, especially on-campus.

Hangouts Victor Jackson and Gocha Hawkins — 2/21/24 – We’ll discuss Gocha’s journey to culinary success, her experiences as a thriving restaurateur and an active member of the LGBTQ community in Atlanta, and her role as a cast member on the new @wetv show “Bold & Bougie”. We’re gonna get all the tea on her experiences as a Black queer woman in the cast of her show, balancing marriage and business, and what she has on the horizon for 2024.

Hangouts Queer Aunties and JadeFox — 2/20/24 – Bri, Shay, and Jade discuss Jade’s work and how she blends her signature sense of humor with her strong sense of community to create engaging, conscious content. They also discuss Jade’s experience art directing campaigns for notable brands and the ways she acts as a vital voice in today’s most exciting conversations on androgynous fashion and pop culture.

Hangouts Queer Aunties and Mal Wright — 2/13/24 – Bri, Shay, and Mal discuss Mal’s work, recent appearance on Netflix’s hit show “The Ultimatum: Queer Love,” and early affinity for fashion, community, and culture that led to her evolution into entertainment, advocacy, hosting, and culture bridge building.
