GLAAD Hangout with Courtney Johnson and Adedotun Ogumbajo — 12/21/22 – Courtney and Dr. Ogunbajo discuss his research, which focuses on sexual and psychosocial health among racial and sexual minority communities in North America and sub-Saharan Africa. They also touch on how his research relates to the current mpox outbreak and the necessity for greater awareness surrounding how the virus specifically and disproportionately impacts communities of color.

Hangouts with Kyle Price and Leah King — 12/13/22 – Tune in as Kyle and Leah discuss Leah’s different art projects, including installations, audio immersions, and interactive works that celebrate Black joy, queer stories, and family histories with an afrofuturist lens. Kyle and Leah will also discuss Leah’s work as a community organizer, her creative collaborations with other artists, and her experiences sharing stages with names such as Margaret Cho, Marc Jacobs, Eve Ensler, and Big Freedia.

Hangouts with Courtney Johnson and Devin-Norelle — 12/6/22 – Tune in as Courtney and Devin-Norelle discuss Devin-Norelle’s work, activism, and zis passion for uplifting the trans and non-binary communities. They’ll also touch on how the monkeypox virus (mpox) has impacted trans and non-binary communities and communities of color, and Devin-Norelle’s personal experience with mpox.

Hangouts Julian J. Walker and Brandon Kyle Goodman — 12/5/22 – Join us as Brandon and I discuss their roles on series such as Netflix’s Big Mouth and spin-off series Human Resources, Amazon’s Modern Love, and Hulu’s Plus One, the uplifting message of self-love and acceptance he shares with first book “You Gotta Be You,” and how Brandon continues to establish himself as a leading voice for Black and Queer communities using their candid and comedic approach to tackle controversial, cultural, and political happenings.

Hangouts Charlie Amaya Scott and BobbySanchez — 11/24/22 – Tune in as Bobby and I discuss her career as a poet, musician, and model, the influences behind their artistry, Native representation and remembrance, and self-care.

GLAAD Hangouts Charlie Amaya Scott, Sean Snyder and Adrian Matthias Stevens — 11/22/22 – Tune in as Sean, Adrian, and I discuss representation of Native communities and heritage in film and television, the importance of attaching self-care to advocacy work, and the vision and advice we have for our Two-Spirit and LGBTQ+ relatives, siblings, friends, and communities.

GLAAD Hangout with Shar Jossell and Maxine Spencer — 11/17/22 – Shar and Maxine discuss Maxine’s work with MashUp!, with a focus on their work serving and advocating for trans and gender non-conforming people, their work advocating to add gender expression to the Metro Nashville non-discrimination statement, her expereinces as a member of the Nashville Nonprofit Workers Union, TAN (Trans AID Nashville), and the Beyond Roe Collective, and what Maxine imagines is truly possible to achieve in the world.

GLAAD Hangouts with Courtney Johnson and Henry Philyaw — 10/31/22 – Courtney and Henry discuss Henry’s work as a writer, which focuses on sex positivity and education (particularly around LGBTQIA issues), his contributions to the HIV web platform The Body and CNP’s The Reckoning, and his role as a sex-positive public speaker and co-host of the KRKARADIO podcast.

GLAAD Hangout with Kyle Price and J Hoard — 10/27/22 – Kyle and J. discuss J.’s music and artistry (which interweaves genres to articulate his vivid songwriting), eclectic approach to his craft, the numerous artists he’s collaborated with, and his recent release of the premiere video to his upcoming album.

GLAAD Hangouts with Courtney Johnson and Leo Moore, MD, MSHPM — 10/25/22 – Tune in as Courtney and Dr. Moore discuss Dr. Moore’s work (which includes overseeing 8 public health centers throughout the county that specialize in HIV prevention, sexually transmitted diseases, tuberculosis, and refugee health) and the current state of the monkeypox virus (MPV) outbreak in the United States. Courtney and Dr. Moore also touch on the current state of the outbreak, symptoms and transmission, and how communities of color have been specifically impacted by MPV.

GLAAD Hangout with Major and Michael Rice — 10/21/22 – Major and Michael discuss Michael’s years of industry experience, debut documentary parTy boi: black diamonds in ice castles (which opened dialogue among urban LGBTQ communities of color about substance abuse and HIV), and his current film BLACK AS U R, which has been the feature film at over 20 U.S. and international film festivals, has won over eight prestigious awards in 2022, and will be making its New York premiere at the NewFest Film Festival this Saturday.

GLAAD Hangouts with Lana Leonard and Josie Caballero — 10/14/22 – Josie Caballero, director of the US trans survey and special projects at National Center for Trans Equality, and Lana Leonard are going to discuss related topics for the Civic Engagement Series.

GLAAD Hangouts with Kyle Price and Rashad A. Muhammad — 10/11/22 – Tune in as Rashad and Kyle discuss Rashad’s art (vivid and captivating works reflective of the complexities of the human experience), as well as their work as a graphic designer and creative director. Muhammad’s works primarily explore the intersections of culture, ethnicity, spirituality, identity, emotions, and nature through collage. The two will also touch on how Rashad’s work celebrates the vastness of the human spirit, reinforcing notions of authenticity, self-love, and connection, while addressing steroetypes and misconceptions relating to people of color and queer people.

GLAAD Hangout with Eshe Ukweli and Blair Imani — 9/22/22 – Blair and Eshe discuss the work that Blair’s presented at universities including Oxford and Harvard, her position serving on the Board of Directors for the Tegan and Sara Foundation, and the ways her work centers and prioritizes women and girls, global Black communities, and the LGBTQ+ community. As an educator, influencer, and semi-retired organizer, Blair Imani is dedicated to making the world less terrible and amplifying the voices and work of those fighting the good fight.

Hangouts Gabe Gonzalez, Ana Fabrega and Julio Torres — 9/16/22 – Tune in for our live convo to kick off Latinx Heritage Month where we’ll talk all about the show’s second season (premiering tmrw!) and what it’s like to bring this surreal bilingual comedy back to ensorcell our screens.

GLAAD Hangout with Julian J. Walker, Alyce Emory and Antoine B. Craigwell — 9/15/22 – Tune in as Julian, Alyce, and Antoine discuss Alyce and Antoine’s respective work and the upcoming In My Mind Conference, which will focus on the mental health and wellness of LGBTQ+ older adults of color. They also touch on mental health in general media, how mental health impacts LGBTQ+ people of color (with an emphasis on older Black and POC communities), and the Ancestral Institute, which looks at mental health among Black people from an ancestral or traditional perspective, and which aims to reconnect them with lost and erased practices that are essential for our healing.

Higgins and Jordan Daniels — 9/13/22 – Tune in as Major, Jon, and Jordan discuss all things @blkfatfemmepod, including the ways Jon and Jordan celebrate the intersections of those identities through unique interviews, joy, and compelling co-host conversations.

GLAAD Hangouts with Eshe Ukweli and Ebon Gore — 9/1/22 – Tune in as Eshe and Ebon discuss Ebon’s journey to the world of modeling, her current modeling career and recent work, and her experience being featured in FreeForm’s The Come Up, an 8-part docuseries premiering on September 13th.

GLAAD Hangouts with Kyle Price and Christopher "Chip" Almanzar — 8/30/22 – Tune in as Kyle and I discuss my debut poetry book, How Water Sparkles in the Sun, my experience as a series regular in the hit web-series “Love at First Night,” and how I use my artistry to heal and constructively express myself.

GLAAD Hangouts with Major and Roger Q. Mason — 8/23/22 – Tune in as Roger and Major discuss Roger’s films and playwriting work, numerous accolades (including Webby Awards, Telly Awards, the Fire This Time Festival Alumni Spotlight, and the Chuck Rowland Pioneer Award), and their roles as an associate producer on the Discovery+ docuseries BOOK OF QUEER and researcher for FreeForm/Disney’s HOW WE GOT HERE. Roger and Major will also discuss the upcoming Los Angeles Skylight Theatre performances of Roger’s new play Lavender Men, which follows Taffeta, a self-proclaimed “fabulous queer creation of color,” as she invades Lincoln’s private world to confront issues of visibility, race, and LGBTQ+ inclusion.

GLAAD Hangouts with Julian J. Walker and Rasheed Newson. — 8/2/22 – Tune in as Rasheed and I discuss his work on drama series’ such as The Chi, Narcos, Animal Kingdom, Shooter, and The 100, his current role as an executive producer and showrunner of “Bel-Air,” and his upcoming novel My Government Means to Kill Me, which is currently available for pre-order and will release on August 23, 2022.

GLAAD Hangouts Victor Jackson and Marla Louissaint — 7/26/22 – Hangout with artist, choreographer, and creative director Victor Jackson. Tune in as we discuss my experiences as a first generation computer science graduate, internationally published model, award-winning theater performer, and actor. We’ll also talk about my role as Founder & CEO of @claimourspacenow, our regular mutual aid pop ups that support our Black queer, unhoused, and undocumented community members, and our upcoming 3rd Annual Rally for Freedom: Pride for All Black Lives.

GLAAD Hangouts with Kyle Price and Marin LePore — 7/19/22 – Tune in as Kyle and I (Marin) discuss all things SAD GIRL PRODUCTIONS, the importance of inclusion in storytelling and filmmaking, my projects “I Put the Bi in Bitter” and “Be Vizzible: A Pride Series,” and my role as a producer on the upcoming feature film “Making Tracks.”

GLAAD Hangout with Milan Garcon and Ambre — 7/14/22 – Milan and Ambré discuss Ambré’s recently released EP, 3000°, which she describes as a love letter to her hometown of New Orleans, upcoming summer performances, experiences writing for some of R&B’s favorites (such as Kehlani, Chloe x Halle, and H.E.R.), and her journey as a self-taught artist.

GLAAD Hangouts Dominique Morgan, Dr. Stephaun E. Wallace, Ph.D., M.S and DaShawn Usher — 7/12/22 – During this conversation, produced with the COVID-19 Prevention Network, we’ll explore how the COVID-19 pandemic has specifically impacted the LGBTQ community and our access to healthcare. Tune in as we touch on topics such as discrimination within healthcare settings, medical racism, vaccinations, and access to adequate resources and information regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.

GLAAD Hangouts Eshe Ukweli and Jaamil Olawale Kosoko — 6/21/22 – Eshe and jaamil will discuss jaamil’s live art works (which include Chameleon, Séancers, and #negrophobia), international tours and festival appearances, and the upcoming performances of their newest work Black Body Amnesia: Poems and Other Speech Acts, which blends poetry, memoir, conversation, and performance theory. In addition to producing numerous live art works and performances, jaamil has also held numerous fellowships, and their creative process draws from Black study and queer theories of the body, weaving together visual performance, lecture, ritual, and spritual practice.

GLAAD Hangout with Brande Else and Julian Walker — 6/7/22 – Brandé and Julian discuss all things MOBIfest and programming, and chat with some very talented MOBIfest artists.

Hangout with Kendrick Day and Julian Waltker | GLAAD — 6/2/22 – Kendrick and Julian share stories/interview artists featured in @mobinyc Queer Art Show taking place this Sunday, June 5th, 2022.

GLAAD Hangout with Eshe Ukweli and Jaime Cepero — 5/31/22 – Eshe and Jaime discuss Jaime’s numerous television, film, and Broadway performances and appearances, work as a writer, composer, and advocate, and experiences as a member of The Lark/National Queer Theater 2021 Playwriting Cohort. Jaime’s awards and accolades include being a 2X semi-finalist in the Times Square Alliance City Songwriting Competition and a 2022 Gold Anthem Award recipient for their work in political activism.

GLAAD Hangout with Major and Victor Jackson — 5/24/22 – Major and Victor discuss Victor’s cabaret show The Muse Effect, set to open on May 25.

GLAAD Hangout with Dashawn Usher and Leon Neyfakh — 5/20/22 – DaShawn and Leon discuss Leon’s work as a print reporter for Slate, The Boston Globe, and The New York Observer, his book The Next Next Level, and his current role hosting the second season of @audible’s Fiasco podcast: The AIDS Crisis. The podcast explores the present moment through the prism of the past, focusing on the AIDS epidemic in America and the early years of the crisis.

GLAAD Hangouts with Major and Sean Ebony Coleman — 5/12/22 – Major and Sean will discuss Sean’s involvement in the establishment of the NYS Trans Equity Fund, his reflections on how the current pandemic has impacted the LGBTQ community, and the educational, financial, housing, health, and personal support programs offered by Destination Tomorrow centers.

GLAAD Hangouts with Victor Jackson, Charles Hughes and Richard Solomon — 5/4/22 – Victor, Charles, and Richard discuss The Lambda Lounge, the importance of having dedicated spaces for queer people of color, Charles and Richard’s motivations for creating safe social havens for the community, and the black-tie grand opening of Club Lambda.

GLAAD Hangout with Brande Elise and Chloe Freeman — 5/3/22 – Brandé and Chloe discuss Chloe’s career as an entrepreneur, desire to fill the gap for gender-diverse people in the multi-billion dollar wellness industry, and their launch of For Them in 2021. In addition to their work with For Them, Chloe is a New York City based actor and producer.

GLAAD Hangout with Dashawn Usher and Mike Gauyo — 4/27/22 – DaShawn and Mike discuss Mike’s various industry experience, ranging from production assistant to co-creator roles, his pride in being a Black, queer, Haitian writer, and his dedication to amplifying marginalized voices, especially those in entertainment. DaShawn and Mike also discuss Mike’s Black Boy Writes/Black Girl Writes Mentorship Initiative (@blackboywritesmedia), which provides a pathway for Black writers to build their careers in Hollywood and addresses a pressing need for Hollywood’s improvement in telling the stories and narratives of people of color.

GLAAD Hangouts with Milan Garcon and Emulsify — 4/26/22 – Join Milan and Emulsify, a queer, Brooklyn-based illustrator, Creative Director of Arrebato Queer, founder of Emulsify Design, and co-creator of book, “What’s An Abortion Anyway?.” Tune in as Emulsify and Milan discuss their work and experiences as an illustrator and designer as well as the importance of creating community spaces like @arrebatoqueer, which centers transgender and gender non-conforming black and brown womxn and femmes.

GLAAD Hangouts with Major and Dr. Jereka Thomas-Hockaday — 4/21/22 – Tune in as Major and Dr. Hockaday discuss how the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted marginalized communities as well as her years of healthcare and higher education administrative experience and journey into her new role at CTAHI, a new institution of higher learning that seeks to bring allied health care training to individuals in vulnerable communities who have not historically had access to similar training programs.

GLAAD Hangout with Victor Jackson and Sean Saifa Wall — 4/12/22 – The pair discuss Sean’s advocacy efforts and scholarly work examining the erasure of intersex people from social policy in Ireland and England, as well as his commitment to racial equity and his radical vision of bodily autonomy for intersex folks.

GLAAD Hangout with Elijah McKinnon, McKensie Mack and Shar Jossell — 4/12/22 – Tune in as Shar, Elijah, and McKensie discuss Elijah and McKensie’s #LightsCameraHarm Survey. #LightsCameraHarm is an in-depth survey examining the film, television, and entertainment industries’ approach to addressing harm and seeking repair for marginalized professionals. Elijah and McKensie aim to use the survey to uncover trends which can help develop processes and structures for accountability as well as comprehensive education and training plans.

GLAAD Hangout with Julian Walker and Sophia Yeshi — 3/29/22 – Tune in as Julian and Sophia discuss Sophia’s native talents in design and digital media, work creating culturally relevant material for beauty, fashion, lifestyle, tech and media brands, and creation of Yeshi Designs (@yeshidesigns), which shines a light on black women, women of color, and folks in the LGBTQ+ community.

GLAAD Hangout with Kyle Price and Codi Keith Charles — 3/22/22 – Tune in as Kyle and Codi discuss the role that Haus of McCoy plays in Lawrence, Kansas, the importance of highlighting and celebrating trans existences within the Black community, and how the lived experiences and advocacy efforts of Black trans people foster liberation for all Black lives.

GLAAD Hangout with Hailie Sahar, Jayce Baron and Victor Jackson — 3/15/22 – Tune in as the group discusses Jayce and Hailie’s #BeyondEdBuck, which follows the string of tragic murders that took place at the hands of Democratic political donor Edward Buck. The documentary is now available for streaming, only on @watchallblk.

GLAAD Hangout with Major and Va-Bene Elikem Fiatsi — 3/8/22 – Tune in as Major and Va-Bene chat about Va-Bene’s work as a performer and installation artist investigating gender stereotypes, prejudices, queerness, identity politics and conflicts, and the consequences of sexual stigma as it pertains to marginalized groups and individuals.
