Claim Our Space Now, a non-profit dedicated to emboldening urgent action to save Black lives, hosted its first of many pop-up events to help members of underserved communities register to vote and get counted in the 2020 census. GLAAD, as well as HeadCount, Swing From Home and Drag Out The Vote, collaborated with Claim Our Space Now for this initiative as well as future programming throughout the fall to galvanize BIPOC communities to make their voices heard in the upcoming election.
The ongoing pop-up series features people from across the country mobilizing the LGBTQ and BIPOC communities to get them to vote. Sign up to volunteer. This past Sunday in Queens, New York, founder Dmitri Moise led a group of volunteers to ensure people were counted in the census and registered to vote for the upcoming election. This weekend, the organization plans a similar popup event in Atlanta.
Starting this Thursday, September 3 Claim Our Space will sit down with ambassadors from Swing From Home and Drag Out the Vote to engage in critical conversations and embolden urgent action to support, protect, and defend Black lives. RSVP here.
Claim Our Space Now is expanding nationally with some upcoming ones to include GA, NC, PA, TX and more! Follow @claimourspacenow to learn about a pop-up in your state or email admin@claimourspacenow.org to lead a pop-up in your area.
