Robert Knight
Conservative Commentator
Senior Fellow, American Civil Rights Union
—Claims that the Equality Act would “criminalize Christianity… It provides the state with the power to persecute anyone who won’t celebrate any aspect of the LGBTQ agenda.” He condemned the legislation’s “toxic blend of mad science and totalitarian intent.”
—Slurred trans soldiers as constituting “the Corporal Klingerization of the military,” a crude reference to a cisgender male character from the sitcom M*A*S*H who would dress in women’s clothes in order to seem mentally unfit for service.
—Insisted that marriage equality involves “stealing the moral capital of marriage and conveying it to other relationships that aren’t anything like it.”
—Referred to trans bathroom access as a “smashing bit of insanity” involving “men who are pretending to be women.”
—Should the Supreme Court rule in favor of marriage equality, Knight advised his readers to “announce loudly and clearly that they won’t go along with this abuse of language ruse.”
—Said President Obama’s support for marriage equality is “attacking God’s moral order,” is “the Devil’s work,” and is “a wicked move.”
—Said “homosexual activism is the spear point of the larger cultural blitzkrieg.”
—Accused LGBTQ activists of supporting inclusive service so they would wreck morality: “The military is a bastion of traditional values and symbolizes America’s strength and independence. Opening the ranks to open homosexuality will accomplish the left’s dream—undermining the military and transforming it into a wrecking ball against Judeo-Christian morality.”
—Said those who protested Proposition 8 by making note of the public donor rolls are “the closest thing we have to Brownshirts…the prototypical Nazis“
—Claimed that President Obama’s decision to drop defense of the Defense of Marriage Act is “an impeachable offense“; adds about the President’s support for LGBTQ rights: “King George never tried anything this diabolical“
—Wrote of the ACLU’s support of LGBTQ rights/access: “If you were the devil, what would be your most important mission, other than inventing false religions? It would be to corrupt innocent children.”
—Claimed gays “bullied” the American Psychiatric Association to declassify homosexuality as a mental illness. (begins around 15:40)
—Said of the film Brokeback Mountain: “It combines high production values with a lowdown attack on morality. It’s a mockery of the Western genre embodied by every movie cowboy from John Wayne to Gene Autry to Kevin Costner. I can’t think of a more effective way to annoy and alienate most movie-going Americans than to show two cowboys lusting after each other and even smooching”…. “If it encourages even one confused boy to engage in sex with another male, that makes it an instrument of corruption, not one of enlightenment.”
—Replied to the claim that Massachusetts was unharmed by same-sex marriage: “Well, the birds chirped and the flowers bloomed in Pearl Harbor on December 8, 1941, as the American fleet lay smoldering.”
—Claimed gays can “overcome” the “addiction” of homosexuality but the media keeps that information from getting out (at 15:40).
—Once said of movement to “change” gays: “I consider the ex-gay movement a vital element of the revitalization of America itself…. The ex-gay movement is one of the most powerful witnesses to this drift to moral relativism in the Church.”
